Overview[]
The Dinozords[]
The Dinozords are the first Zords of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Two of them were based on dinosaurs from the Cretaceous time period, and the other three were technically not dinosaurs. Although the first in the series, chronology may put other Zord formations before it. When all five Dinozords were combined, they formed the Megazord, the only such combination not to have a prefix before its name (such as Thunder Megazord or Ninja Megazord).
The Thunderzords[]
The Thunderzords were created from the original Dinozords and had much greater strength than their previous forms. The Dinozords, in a weakened and partially destroyed state, later served as the foundation for the creation of the stronger Thunderzords, used throughout Season Two. When the Thunder Megazord was destroyed by Rito Revolto early in Season Three, the original Dinozords were also lost as well. Until 2020, both the Dragonzord and Titanus were the only two surviving Zords known to still be operational. By unknown means, the original five Dinozords had been fully rebuilt, and used again by the Rangers.
The Ninjazords[]
The Ninjazords are the Falcon, Bear, Crane, Wolf, Frog, and Ape. These Zords use the cunning and stealth of Ninja instead of brute force. After the Thunderzords are destroyed by Rito Revolto, the Rangers travel to the Temple of Power where a legendary being named Ninjor (the alleged creator of the original Power Coins) gives them new powers and access to the Ninjazords.
The Shogunzords[]
The Shogunzords are humanoid robots of different colors (much like the Alien Rangers' Battle Borgs) and with different armor around the head, the heads resembling the animals the Ninjazords were based on. The Shogunzords are considerably more useful than the Ninjazords, due to their all having humanoid forms, as well as all having their own weapons.
List of Zords[]
- Tyrannosaurus Dinozord : Piloted by Mighty Morphin Red Ranger. the Tyrannosaurus was the mightiest of all Dinozords, sometimes acting alone in combat, where it could use its tail and jaws as weapons. It had the ability to fire energy blasts from its eyes. It could also roar so strongly that it created seismic blasts, channeling the Earth as a weapon and vaporizing monsters. It could also stand on its tail and kick opponents like a kangaroo. The Tyrannosaurus remained underground while not in use.
- Mastodon Dinozord : Piloted by Mighty Morphin Black Ranger. it could fire frigid blasts of cold air and mist at enemies, temporarily freezing them. Its hiding place was in the deep Arctic.
- Triceratops Dinozord : Piloted by Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger. it could shoot laser shots from a twin cannon (its tail) as well as fire chain-link power cables out of its horns to subdue opponents. The Triceratops remained in the desert while not in use.
- Smilodon Dinozord : Piloted by Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger. it could shoot a large yellow laser out of a tail cannon, similar to the Triceratops. However, it could also attack using its teeth. This Zord was by far the fastest, running as transportation. Its hiding place was in the deep jungle.
- Pterodactyl Dinozord : Piloted by Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger. It could fire twin lasers when used individually, which looked like lightning. This was the only Dinozord with flight capability. It remained submerged in a volcano for hiding purposes, and caused the volcano to erupt whenever it left.
- Dragonzord : Piloted by Mighty Morphin Green Ranger. Dragonzord featured a wide array of offensive weaponry. It could fire missiles from its fingertips and was able to use its large tail offensively, typically through the use of tailwhips. The tail also had a functional boaring drill at its tip, which could be activated for additional damage when striking enemies. It was better equipped to battle underwater than the Dino Megazord as it slept under Angel Grove Bay when not in use.

- Titanus : a giant brachiosaurus Carrierzord used by the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Titanus would roll through a misty swamp after being summoned. Similar to the Dragonzord, he was autonomous compared to the other piloted Dinozords, largely responding to the Rangers' call to action. When fighting individually, he would usually fire blasts out of his mouth but could move his tail into two shoulder cannons as well. The shoulder cannons were most prominently featured as part of the Ultrazord formations.
- Red Dragon Thunderzord : the second Zord of the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger. It was the first Zord in the series to possess two battle modes: Dragon and Warrior. In Dragon mode, it could breathe flame and attack with its claws mid-flight. In Warrior mode, it would fight opponents by hand-to-hand combat or by wielding its staff that he could spin at high speeds to attack.
- Lion Thunderzord : the second Zord of the Mighty Morphin Black Ranger. Zordon explained that the Lion had "courage and strength", and it was given greater armor and defense.
- Unicorn Thunderzord : the second Zord of the Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger. it could launch large boulders at foes. Its design is like that of a moving cart with a single front appendage that allows it to move.
- Griffin Thunderzord : the second Zord of the Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger. it could project fireballs when used in combat on its own. Like the Unicorn Thunderzord, its design is like that of a moving cart with a single front appendage that allows it to move.
- Firebird Thunderzord : the second Zord of the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger. On its own, the Firebird was capable of creating an energy tornado and sending it towards monsters.
- White Tigerzord : the first zord of Mighty Morphin White Ranger and Tommy's second overall. It has two battle mode: Tiger and Warrior. Tiger mode was the primary form that the Tigerzord took when entering battle. It could not only move very fast but also emit powerful sonic blasts at opponents. Warrior Mode was equipped with a sword (formed from the Tiger Mode's tail) and demonstrated the ability to follow the White Ranger's every move.
- Tor the Shuttlezord : the turtle based Carrierzord of the Thunderzords and belonged to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It is the largest Thunderzord and also have 2 modes: Turtle and Warrior. In Turtle mode, Itwields a pair of side mounted cannons and his armor is thick enough to withstand damages. In Warrior mode, it could shoot rocket like energy lasers out of its fingertips and open up its chest for the Red Dragon Thunderzord to enter it and re-energize.
- Serpentera : a colossal Zord who served as the personal Zord of Lord Zedd and was one of the biggest Zords in Power Rangers history. It has 2 stance: Dragon and Warrior. Being a dragon-based Zord, Serpentera lacked weapons but had massive clawed hands to hack and slash its enemies with. However, it never used them as it relied on its weight instead to crush things under them.
- Red Ape Ninjazord : the Third Zord of Mighty Morphin Red Ranger. He is similar to the Red Dragon Thunderzord in battle mode, serving as the humanoid fighter of the group as the only Ninjazord to stand on two legs and battle. He used twin ninja-to swords as his weapons.
- Black Frog Ninjazord : the Third Zord of Mighty Morphin Black Ranger. When on his own, he could breathe fire and release several smaller frogs, which can latch on to their target and produce an electric shock. he could lasso a monster with his tongue and send an electric pulse through the tongue to electrocute the enemy.
- Blue Wolf Ninjazord : the Third Zord of Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger. When fighting alone, he was capable of doing flips and striking enemies with his tail. He was also shown to have blinding speed and agility.
- Yellow Bear Ninjazord : the Third Zord of Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger. When fighting alone, he could create massive earthquakes by stomping the ground, or fire energy blasts from his eyes. he had the ability to become a biped, allowing him to use his front paws as fists.
- Pink Crane Ninjazord : the Third Zord of Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger. On her own, the Crane can fire lasers from her wings.
- Ninja Falconzord : the second Zord of the White Ranger, and third for Tommy Oliver. The Falconzord can shoot powerful beams from its mouth and it could also shoot missiles from its wingtip cannons.
- Red Shogunzord : a warrior Zord patterned after an ape and piloted by Mighty Morphin Red Ranger. It is armed with a shuriken shield.
- Black Shogunzord : a warrior Zord patterned after a frog and piloted by Mighty Morphin Black Ranger. It is armed with a large bow and arrow.
- Blue Shogunzord : a warrior Zord patterned after a wolf and piloted by Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger. It is armed with a staff weapon.
- Yellow Shogunzord : a warrior Zord patterned after a bear and piloted by Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger. It is armed with a rake-like claw chain weapon.
- White Shogunzord : a warrior Zord patterned after a crane and piloted by Mighty Morphin White Ranger and Pink Ranger. It is armed with dual sai weapons. It is the only individual Shogunzord to have more than one pilot.
