{{Quote|Blue Pirate Ranger!|roll call as the Blue Pirate Ranger|Power Rangers Pirates}
Troy is Megaforce Red, the Red Ranger of Power Rangers Megaforce and the Blue Pirate Ranger, the Blue Ranger of Power Rangers Pirates. He is the leader of the Mega Rangers, and second-in-command of the Pirate Rangers.
History[]
Backstory[]
Troy hails from the planet Andresia, which once thrived with vibrant cities and advanced technology. When the Armada and the Warstar invaded, they razed his world to ashes, leaving him with no family or home. Captured as a young survivor, he was forcibly conscripted into the Armada ranks as a soldier. Whilst in captivity, Troy was the subject of taunting and tormenting from an Insectoid mantle-like warrior named Creepox, which only worsened when Troy developed feelings for Creepox's crush Camielleat (later Metal Alice), the daughter of Admiral Malkor, the leader of the Warstar. When an outraged Malkor found out, he requested to the Armada for Troy to be punished.
And so to ensure his obedience, the Armada subjected him to a brutal and torturous biomechanical procedure, fusing his body with cybernetic enhancements and overlaying living tissue to create a loyal cyborg enforcer.
For years, he followed orders without question, his mind dulled by programming. But a single mission broke through the haze—ordered to execute a group of defenseless alien children, their terrified faces haunted him, stirring memories of his lost kin. That moment ignited a spark of rebellion, and he began slowly resisting his conditioning, wrestling with his dual nature as he sought a way to atone for the blood on his hands.
He eventually went on the run as a fugitive, with an electric tracking device wrapped around his neck that would destroy him if he tried to remove it. Troy hijacked an Armada attackship and set a course for Earth, as the Warstar were about to invade. Later that day, Gosei summoned him and four others. Gosei gave him the power of the Red Ranger as a result of meeting adversity in his life with great skill, and soon he led the new Power Rangers into battle against the Warstar. The team won, and Troy rapidly adjusted to his new role as one of the defenders of Earth.

Personality[]
Troy is a calm man, whose words are few. His difficult upbringing as a captive Armada soldier made him resilient, and it shows in his incredible swordsmanship. Despite a life of nothing but adversity, Troy is compassionate and loyal, and grows a strong faith in humanity as he continues as a Power Ranger. He does not initiate a fight unless it's absolutely necessary.
Troy is also known for being one of the more serious Rangers to appear in the series (much like the Wolf Ranger from Power Rangers Wild Force previously), is always sharp in battle and will stop at nothing to take down evil and save the world.
He became close to Robo Knight over the course of Megaforce, however was heartbroken when it turned out that the Armada had corrupted him into Argus.

Behind the Scenes[]
Portrayal[]
- Troy Burrows was portrayed by Andrew Gray. In real life, he is more outgoing than his portrayal of the character, but the producers made him intentionally wooden and calm, which is why he does not display a lot of emotion.
- As Megaforce Red, his suit actor in Super Sentai footage from Goseiger was Yasuhiro Takeuchi (竹内 康博 Takeuchi Yasuhiro?), who later served as Pirate Green in Gokaiger footage.
- In US/NZ footage, his suit actors were Atsushi Okuma (大隈 厚志 Ōkuma Atsushi?) and Koji Mimura (三村 幸司 Mimura Kōji?).
Etymology[]
- "Troy" is derived from the ancient Greek city of Troy (Ancient Greek: Τροία, romanized: Troía), which is famously known as the setting of the Trojan War in Greek mythology. This association with the legendary city of Troy symbolizes strength, bravery, and resilience. The name can also mean "water" or "foot soldier" depending on the interpretation. The connection to water signifies fluidity and adaptability, while the association with foot soldiers suggests courage and loyalty. "Troy" is sometimes considered an English version of the old Irish name "Troightheach," which means "foot soldier" or "descendant of Troius". This reflects the idea of a strong and brave person.
