Urban Pleasures is the thirty-first episode of Power Rangers Universe. Pom-Pom makes a brief appearance in this episode.
Synopsis[]
As early plans are preparing to use the newly-acquired Chrono Sector Key to travel back in time are being drafted, a group of rangers are invited to participate by 263's bureau to take part in a friendly game of golf in their outpost, amid an Arkeyan Commandant attempting to sabotage proceedings. Along the way, Russell discovers a new skill.
Plot[]
Following the successful acquisition of the Chrono Sector Key on Vis Urban, Russell has been extremely busy experimenting with it. When Joi arrives to check on him, he explains that the key can provide temporal manipulation in different ways, including creating time portals of any size using the Uni-Controller; Joi notes that this will require some intense experimentation before the team can carry out their mission to the past. On the Destinyās bridge, Arthur and most of his clique are chilling out. Suddenly a phone goes off, and Wild Bill answers it - itās Elwood OāNeill - who is furious at Bill for the the Crystal Maze incident, in which his hideout was destroyed and his brothers were killed. Wild Bill retorts by saying that Elwood had too many brothers, after which Arthur and Moose join in the taunting. Elwood then vows death upon Bill, provoking Bill to explicitly give him his location. At this second, Russell comes in to brief the group on his strategy to use the Chrono Sector Key; he tells them that their next objective is to go to Planet Van Horn to acquire information regarding vital instructions as to how to create a time vortex with it. Meanwhile, His Magnificence, still left fuming following the recent deaths of Z'Aezoth and Octiqua, is running out of options following several major defeats to the rangers. His situation is made worsened when Snubby Boneface, a commandant requested by him to occupy a planet, is "on foreign assignment".
Later, 263 is holding a rally on the promenade, with Bronzee and Florian among those in attendance. Russell is getting a snack from a vending machine when he overhears the rally mentioning something about a friendly golf tournament. Russell has a secret passion for golf, and usually played golf in his spare time. 263 marvels at Russell's interest, as Russell tells him he never really played tennis on a professional level, so much that he actually gave up on his dream of a professional golfer to develop technology for Star Battleforce. Florian and Bronzee also express their interest in the golf tournament. Joi is looking for Russell, and says they should be focusing more on research than relaxation. As Russell prepares to talk himself out of it on Joi's request, 263 physically manhandles Joi into registering too, much to Russell's disdain. The golf tournament takes place on an island rented out by the Galactic Affairs Bureau on Earth, and the event is being livestreamed as a "charity match" for an undisclosed foundation. Moose is also part of the Star Battleforce/G.A.B. team, and the others are surprised, as he mentions he goes on competitions regularly. Snubby is hosting the tournament, which is an elimination format, and the team are discussing some strategies. The rangers invited don't take part in any strategizing. Moose thinks that they could be foiled into another one of 263's publicity stunts, but Russell insists that this could have something to do with the wider S.B.F./G.A.B. alliance. Florian even jokingly notes that Arthur could be glad he didn't sign up, since there could be another scuffle between him and 263.
The tournament gets underway; the G.A.B./S.B.F. golf team does well, and progresses to the third round. There is some heavy competition from a team of Buzzblast workers who are part of a golf team. Just before they are on the cusp of elimination, Bronzee pulls off a hat trick, and secure a fourth win for their team. Russell, to everyone's surprise, is the man of the match for all of the team's wins. Later the same evening, the team arrives at a hotel where they will be residing throughout the tournament; to make themselves welcome, they are invited to a large dinner, where 263 makes an after-dinner speech about his "legendary" accomplishments since his alliance with the rangers. Elsewhere, Snubby is located by Gazla - who is sent to search for him, as he scouts the golf course for himself, and scolds the commandant for making excuses to meet with His Magnificence, but Snubby said he was in a rush because it was scheduled to rain after his appointment was finished. Sometime later, after the dinner, Russell is in a hotel room filling the others on the Destiny - who are at the promenade, on their exploits. Megan asks Russell whether this golf trip is something to do with obtaining intel for the time travel operation, but Russell says no. Arthur points out that Moose actually told him that Russell once had developed an interest in golf, but Russell cuts him off, and tells Arthur he should be glad he didn't sign up for it, because there are rumors of a commandant. Dimitri warns Russell that the golf tournament could be a trap, and suggests that he tell 263 to call of the tournament altogether and retreat. Russell refutes, and insists all could go well.
After disconnecting, Joi visits Russell and wonders how much progress is adoptive brother made on the research for the Chrono Key. As they discuss things, Russell confides to Joi about a potential idea to destroy His Magnificence in the past, which could practically erase the ranger program from existence, and could provoke the Morphin Masters to react with punishment over those who manipulate the timeline. Joi agrees that any changes to the timeline could lead to unprecedented changes, especially as far as the Ranger Program, and how Star Battleforce has grown during the Arkeyan rule. When they discuss potential intel that the tournament could provide them, Russell says that it couldn't be possible, as a potential Arkeyan, let alone anyone competing in the golf, could know any specific dates to go back to. Russell then concludes by saying that he needs to watch more documentaries, and do more research for it, as Joi wonders about Russell's rediscovered skill in golf. Russell thinks that he's glad he found new purpose in his life as chief researcher at Star Battleforce, and thinks he's become a valuable asset having designed the rangers' technology, claiming golf was only ever a hobby than a dream for him. As this happens, 263 continues to hold a party in the main lobby of the hotel, as Moose, Bronzee and Florian remain in attendance. Elsewhere, Snubby, on Gazla's orders, sets up a trap - with the intention of revealing the true purpose of the golf match, which would be activated during the final.
Days pass, and the as the S.B.F./G.A.B. team advances to the semi-finals, where they face some heavy competition, but ultimately winning the match thanks to 263's surprisingly good shots, thus advancing to the final; Snubby watches with satisfaction. As all of this happens, a livestream is being shown in the bar on the promenade, which many of the other rangers are watching. The final gets underway, and 263 and Joi score two bogies each, thus putting them ahead of their rivals. Snubby is commentating, until he reveals his true intentions to the viewers, pulling out an explosive. He presses it, and several bombs go off, confirming many people's suspicions, as the tournament is called off, having been realised as a trap. This provokes the rangers to act, as 263, Russell, Joi, Florian, Bronzee and Moose morph, as Snubby takes to the golf course, summoning a horde of Zealots. Moose, Joi, Russell, Florian and Bronzee deal with the Zealots, while 263 holds of Snubby, which proves to be stronger than anticipated. Russell and Moose notice 263 in danger, so they decide to attack with their U.W.S. weapons, but their attacks deal little damage, as Snubby knocks them all back, marvelling at the rangers' weak efforts. 263 bickers with Russell about what he knows about weak spots, and Russell claims that it could be on Snubby's chest, seeing as he overheard his commentary on his "retirement" from professional golf. At an advantage, Russell takes a golf club, and manages to hit Snubby directly in the chest, weakening him. This allows the group to perform an All-Star Sector Blast - while 263 initiates a Blazing Storm Slash, to finish Snubby off.
Snubby survives his impact, however, and activates his A-Drone. The rangers summon their voyagers, as those onboard the Destiny react, as Arthur realises his Sector Key is missing, and assumes 263 may have stole it again - as Ryan notes that he may still have some suspicious tendancies, stating that they should leave it to the others. 263, in Leo Voyager 1, forms the Voyager Squad Megazord with Moose, Joi, Bronzee and Florian, while Russell, noticeably absent, has an idea: he uses the Ursa Major Sector Key, and enlarges into Mode Major, and decides to confront the A-Drone head-on. After saving the megazord some work, he gives them an opening, before the Voyager Squad Megazord uses Russell to perform a finisher to destroy the A-Drone, as Snubby ejects. He is then found by an incensed Gazla, who has found out that the plan was actually foiled, and is fed before some Moonbillies. Fortunately, His Magnificence has found another Senator to serve him at last. In the aftermath, the organisers of the golf tournament decide to award the Star Battleforce/Bureau team top prize. Back on the Destiny, Russell and Moose are telling the others about their experiences, while Arthur demands 263 give him his Sector Key back after some nagging. Seeing as 263 has still some arrogant traits of his, Russell thinks that, since it will take time to research for the time-travel mission, decides to invite a number of the other rangers for a trip to another golf course on Earth he was able to locate. Florian and Bronzee overhear this, and attempt to join them, but they are left behind, unaware that they left without them.
