Power Rangers Megaforce is the 19th season of Power Rangers, based on the Super Sentai series Tensou Sentai Goseiger. The series follows a group of teenagers chosen by the mythical Gosei to protect the Earth from the invading Warstar and its Insectoids army.

Production[]

"Power Rangers Megaforce" was trademarked by Saban Brands in 2010 while performing 'Power Rangers Samurai'. Due to the audition calls for Power Rangers (which Rangers were not identified outright) involving a black ranger, there were speculations that it may be Power Rangers' reinterpretation of Tensou Sentai Goseiger.The official name was then revealed as "Power Rangers Megaforce" with the descriptions reflecting it is indeed a Goseiger adaptation.

Synopsis[]

"Our world was once a safe and happy place until evil aliens arrived with one plan: to destroy Earth. Gosei, Earth's ancient guardian, awoke and called on a new team of teenagers to fight off this new threat. They are the Power Rangers Megaforce."

Since 1993, Earth has been protected by the mighty Power Rangers. When Zordon disappeared, he left Gosei in charge of protecting Earth, who did so with his robotic assistant Tensou. However, an evil organization of aliens known as Warstar begin their descent to Earth in order to conquer it, Gosei responds to the emergency by calling on five teenagers with attitude to form a new team of Power Rangers. Not only do they face the Warstar, but also a species of Toxic Beasts and a robotic army who wish to take Earth for themselves.

Later, the Mega Rangers gain an ally named Robo Knight, a powerful android created by Gosei, who assists them in their fight against these opponents.

Notes[]

  • Similar to the previous season, this fanfiction is exactly the same as its, canon counterpart, with a few exceptions:
    • This season will be a bit like a sort of remake of MMPR 1, with the same number of episodes as its re-version. Each episode, except episodes 30 to 32, will be based on another of MMPR with better storytelling and more constructed characters.
    • Troy is the "Chosen One" Being the reason Gosei chose him and his team to become the Mega Rangers, with a special power and connection to both Morphin Grid and Robo Knight. The energy that Troy emits when he charges to free Robo Knight in "Vrak is Here, Part 2" and his prophetic dreams are two of his abilities as the Chosen One.
    • The Mega Rangers don't become the Super Mega Rangers, next season's team with another name.
    • The Mega Rangers engaged in the Legendary Battle in this season, in which Orion does not appear.
    • Troy shows a lot more feelings and acts less like a robot in this fanfiction.
  • This is the first Power Rangers series to use footage from multiple previously unsuitable Super Sentai series in a single episode. The episodes where Troy dreams of the Legendary Battle as Mega Mission use footage of Tensou Sentai Goseiger and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger .
  • In the opening at 0:01, the person behind the morpher is actually Troy's Super Sentai counterpart. This error has not been changed for unknown reasons.
  • This is the first season to have its UK premiere on free-to-air terrestrial television, as it airs on Channel 5 from August, but has yet to air on a subscription channel . All previous seasons have aired on Sky One, Fox Kids, Jetix or Nickelodeon. In October, reruns of Megaforce began on Nicktoons, with Nickelodeon itself apparently dropping the series.
  • This is the only season where the Zords share the same names as their Sentai counterparts.
  • This season aired in Japan on Toei Channel on October 10, 2016.
  • This season contains 3 arcs in terms of the main threats the Rangers face, the Insectoid arc (Mega Mission to The Human Condition) the Toxic Mutant Arc (Robot Knight at Gosei Ultimate) and the Robot arc (The Human Factor to End Game).
