Power Rangers Avalonia is the 31st season of Power Rangers, serving as the first true original power rangers show.

The series is Hasbro's fourth production under their content production division Entertainment One, following their acquisition of the franchise.

Production[]

On February 19, 2024, Hasbro revealed via a Fan First Friday event that the next Power Rangers adaptation would be an entirely original show based on Authurian Legend. However, the official title wasn't revealed at the time. It was revealed as Power Rangers Season 31 several weeks later. On July 18, 2022, it was revealed at the Power Rangers Avalonia panel at 2024 San Diego Comic Con that the adaptation would be called Power Rangers Avalonia. Avalonia was a 30-episode show split into two seasons, containing 15 episodes and for the first time in the shows history, there were no halloween or christmas specials. The first season was released on a weekly basis from May to July 2025, and the second season was released from September to November 2025.

Avalonia was also heavily promoted by Hasbro and Netflix, which proved to work as the 2 seasons became the most watched set of Power Ranger seasons since the Neo-Saban Era ended.

Unlike the previous seasons, the entire season utilized more CGI in order to allow for more dynamic fight scenes and a faster production time. This style had mixed-results with critics and fans. However the suits and zords/megazords were hugely popular, mostly due to them having been imported from the Super Sentai show, Oshama Sentai King-Ohger

Overview[]

"In the modern day, the evil Pendragon Empire has returned from its long slumber and has begun its reconquest of the world. Fortunately, King Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table left behind gifts their descendents to use against the empire should it return. Using the powers left behind from world tales and legends about mythical kings and heroes, this new generation of knights had immense power at their command."

Plot[]

"Hundreds years ago, a warlord known the world over as Gilgamesh discovered an ancient species of demon. Using these beasts he ruled the world with an iron-fist until King Arthur arose to stop him. In the decade that followed, the two Kings and their army's battled to the death, ending with both of them dying in battle or so it is told."

"When Gilgamesh died, King Arthur and 5 of his knights along with his sister Morgan Le Fay sacrificed their souls so they would create Avalonia, world of magic that would serve as the prison of the Pendragon army. Under strict orders, the final seven knights took off to different corners of the world to await the Pendragon Empires inevitable return."

"Now in modern times, Gilgamesh is resurrected by unknown means and along with him, the remaining beasts and generals of his army. Now bent on ruling what was once his, he begins an assault on the world. Now the world holds it breath as the Second Grail War begins." ā€•Opening text

In the early second century, Gilgamesh an ancient king and warlord, discovered demons known as Pendragons. Using these demons, he took over the world and ruled with an iron-fist, thanks to powers granted by the true Pendragon leader, Khronos. However in the 6th century, a figure known today as King Arthur and his knights began a war with Gilgamesh to free Britania and, later the world. The decade long struggle ended when Gilgamesh was slain by King Arthur. Capturing Gilgamesh's demons and destroying his empire, he, Morgan Le Fay, and 5 of his knights sealed them within an unknown seal with the morphing masters assistance. They created imprisoned the demons at the cost of their souls but Merlin saved them from being lost completely. He then created the first known Power Rangers in history with the help of the Morphin Masters.

In the present day, Merlin begins to search for the descendents and reincarnations of his old friends due to Pendragon seal failing. Soon he locates 2 of the teenagers, Artoria and Lucas Hayes, reincarnations of King Arthur and Lancelot respectively. By the time he finds 3 remaining reincarnations and descendents, Tyla, Alex, and Myrant,the seal fails and the Pendragons are unleashed upon the world. Together the 5 teenagers formed the Avalonia Rangers. However Gilgamesh personally leads an attack against humanity in an attempt to lure King Arthur from the shadows, thinking he lives but instead, 5 teenagers show up. Thinking this would be an easy fight, Gilgamesh unleashed a horde of Wyverns upon the 5. Lance, deciding to do what Merlin said if they were attacked by Pendragons, led the others into morphing for the first time as Power Rangers and after some struggle, destroyed the Wveryn's. Once again confronting Gilgamesh, who realized they could pose a threat and decided to unleash the Pendragon, Heracles. After a several minute fight, the 5 rangers destroyed Heracles via using their Avalonian Sabers. However Gilgamesh chose not to give his monster a second chance and retreated back to the demonic world that contains the Pendragons and his seat of power, Hades. He would comment that "the Grail War begins anew but this time, i will be the victor."
