"Overdrive Power... Blue Robo Ranger!" - Roll Call

Overdrive is the Blue Robo Ranger, the Blue Ranger of the Robo Force Power Rangers. He is the last of the five Rangers to join the core team.

In episode 17, he briefly took up the name Old Man Tronson when he and the other Rangers were transported to the set of "Poppy the Clown".

Character History[]

Working as a Robonoid Empire Janitor[]

Overdrive was first seen working as a janitor in the Robonoid Palace. When hearing that part of Robotopia had been transported to Earth, he interrupted the discussion of the Robonoid leaders to ask for more information, but he was punished by Tanker for being insolent. Later, when Rocketman informed Emperor Zenkai about the appearance of the Robo Force Rangers, Overdrive once again interrupted the meeting and was once again punished now by Rocketman for this. When Shroomish was defeated on Earth, Overdrive was cleaning a platform, so he noticed the control panel displaying the liberation of the Mushroom World from the Robonoid Empire's confinement. Finding himself grumbling about the messiness of the palace, Overdrive was surprised to find that the Ice World had been liberated, and immediately ran to alert Tanker.

Meeting Luke[]

After revealing his findings to Tanker, Overdrive found himself being relentlessly pursued by Plugmen with Tanker putting a death warrant on his head to keep his knowledge classified. While fleeing, Overdrive managed to run into the Rangers fight with Knock-Out, and although they were suspicious, they took great efforts to protect him, though his curiosity made him difficult to keep low, and eventually, they were surrounded by more people influenced by Knock-Out. By then having shared a lot of vital intel with the Rangers, Overdrive realizes that he had a better opportunity to learn with them more than with the Empire, and joined the team as the Blue Robo Ranger, the last core Robo Ranger. All five made short work of Knock-Out, though after cleaning the Rangers home base, everyone was left in shock when he mentioned that people sharing the names of Luke's parents had once visited Tanker's lab.

Personality[]

Classy and a bit dandy, Overdrive has a burning and almost uncontrollable curiosity for knowledge, and will go to certain lengths such as joining the Robonoid Empire to attain such knowledge. He also has a penchant for cleaning up, as seen by his two previous jobs in Robotopia. Because of this, Overdrive has a bit of a neat freak's mindset, and impulsively cleans up whenever he sees a mess. He also strictly reprimands those with sloppier cleaning ethics, particularly Mystic. This leaves him coming off as blunt and rude, though he apologizes whenever he realizes his behavior. He has a bad habit of being easily distracted by his surroundings and asking too many questions in rapid succession, often earning him scorn from his peers. During his time as the Empire's janitor, the higher ups simply attacked him when he got too annoying. Overdrive is also much clumsier than his companions, often falling out of sync and tripping constantly whenever he moves with or near them.

While clumsy and rather cowardly, after being reached out to by Luke he grew to stand up for himself more and eventually fight as a Robo Force Ranger. Due to his frantic curiosity, removing his glasses works to distract him for the time being. Like Mystic, he has a verbal tic, using the word "Vroom" to describe his curiosity whenever it fires up. He shares Morphinā€™s role in telling Luke about the Empire, though as a former member himself, Overdriveā€™s knowledge is more intimate. As a result of his former servitude, he often speaks in a semi-formal manner.

Blue Robo Ranger[]

Overdrive uses the Robo Ranger Morpher with the "Blue Robo Ranger" Ranger Gear (14) to morph into the Blue Robo Ranger. By switching his Ranger Gear to its "Flip Side", Overdrive grows larger thus allowing him to fight the Robo-Beasts. Whilst's he enlarged, Overdrive can then transform into his zord form of the Overdrive Truck Zord.
