Synopsis[]

Xenu’s end game is about to reveal itself, and every disciple attack has been a calculating step closer to his plan. As Commander Burnham invokes emergency measures in preparation for the rangers to counter Xenu's decisive assault on earth, Michael works with Master Bird to fully prepare himself, while Erin finds herself incapable of joining her teammates in participating in the final strike.

Plot[]

At Discovery Command, Commander Burnham has summoned the rangers for an important meeting in the command room. After Jimmy and Lester arrive, the commander announces that he has been involved with negotiations with the U.N. Security Council regarding global disaster precaution measures in the event of Xenu's ultimate victory, before announcing to them that with Xenu now having lost three generals, he is now able to put his master plan into motion, and that his final strike on Earth will occur in 48 hours. As a result, all Discovery operatives, including the rangers, will be involved in defending the city - much to Erin's distress, while plans are already being considered to send a small group to Xenu's Desolation to confront senior figures within Xenu's ranks head-on; and all personnel, including the rangers (except Lester), must wear their field uniforms at all times. When Commander Burnham is asked about who the third general to be killed is, Lester reveals that it is Narnette, and reveals to everyone else about Narnette's background, and how Xenu programmed her to become her most faithful servant; Daniel and Laura are especially shocked, with the latter stating she can't believe Xenu would enslave an innocent, unwilling human like that. When Jimmy brings up what could happen if they win the war, especially a proposed Isis IV mission, the commander confirms that a fourth Isis mission will take place, only when victory against Xenu is achieved. However, the commander gravely reveals that once the team's mission is over, Daniel, Laura, Jimmy and Erin's contracts at Discovery will be terminated, meaning that they must leave the organisation and move on with their lives, while only Michael and Lester will be eligible to renew their contracts. This revelation shocks Michael, Laura and Jimmy in particular, but Daniel is not surprised at all, stating that he promised his wife and daughters that he would retire from Discovery once the team's mission is over, and he intends to honor that promise. Erin, having grown frustrated and very upset having listened to all of this, breaks down and storms out of the command room, after which Jimmy, worried about his girlfriend to see her like this once more, says he's going to talk to her, to which Lester says is for the best, stating that there is a lot of stuff for the others to get done at command before the final battle. With that, Michael remains with his father while the others leave to check on Nadia. Meanwhile, on the Bahamas, Baxter is silently watching news coverage of the impending events leading up to Xenu's final strike, moments before is wife enters the living room. When she asks him why he turned down the rangers' offer to join them full-time, Baxter has an outburst and reiterates he was humiliated in public just when he left the team in good hands, and decided they no longer have his trust, and questions why he would accept their call now. His wife does not answer, so he throws a chair at her, leading to a violent altercation between them, after which she divorces from Baxter and leaves the mansion. Seconds later, he smashes the TV in the living room.

As this happens, Malvor and Scourge are discussing what happens now since three generals have now been killed. Scourge plans to kill Xenu next and sieze the throne, but Malvor has a more proactive idea, since he has ancient decree secured within the vault, that they have enough intel to initiate a decisive assault on earth, a plan several millennia in the making. They head to the throne room, but just as Xenu is about to tear into Scourge for the supposed death of Narnette, Malvor presents his master with a piece of legislation, thus confirming that the final strike can now begin. Outside of the base, Michael is contemplating the future, thinking about his father's grim words about what happens after the team's mission is over, and whether or not the team will actually prevail. Commander Burnham comes to check on his son, who feels disappointed that the friends who had been at his side for all of this time will have moved on with their lives after the mission ends, as Commander Burnham explains why he had to make the difficult choice for the Isis III crew, citing that after the mission concludes, the money required to sign each member would increase exponentially, and would lose Discovery a lot of money in doing so. In a push to get his son to focus on the fight ahead, Michael suggests further training with Master Bird to perfect his skills. At the research room, Lester introduces Daniel and Laura to Nadia, who weakly explains that she remembers nothing from her life as Xenu's consort, while Laura expresses that she feels sorry for her. After further procedures, Lester comes to the conclusion that Nadia must be placed in stasis until a cure is found, while Daniel suggests she should be sent to somewhere safe just in case the base is attacked; Lester decides to send it to Anton Baxter's mansion in the Bahamas.

Meanwhile, a tearful Erin visits her father's grave, just as Jimmy catches up to her and sees that she does not want to join the others in the final battle. He tries to convince her to reconsider by telling her how much they care about her, but Erin, who is not ready to prepare for the final battle, has a meltdown, venting her frustration not only about the final battle being imminent, but the fact that she and the others are about to lose their jobs when the mission ends - which means that she will no longer be able to live in the living quarters - the only place she had felt safe, the death threats she had recently been sent during the mission, and that she still misses her father, and cannot forget about her past. Jimmy understands that Erin misses her father, and how difficult she found her childhood, but advises her not to let it put her life on hold, but Erin, believing she "has no future", and on the verge of tears, yells that being a Power Ranger has made her life worse, and that her life will never be the same again, having already lost everything, and asks where she can live when her contract expires, as she does not look forward to returning to the orphanage, and is frustrated that Lester had made empty promises about finding a new home and family for her. Jimmy, himself upset having listened to Erin's meltdown, tells her that everyone admires what she has done, and that she does not realise it, and the potential consequences about being a ranger short during the final strike, reminding her that they were both dragged into Isis III in the first place. A tearful Erin reveals that she fears for her life during the final battle, and she had been living in fear throughout the whole mission. Jimmy is so moved by how honest Erin has been about her experiences of being a ranger, and how poorly it has affected her mental health, and convinces Erin to join him and the others, telling Erin he will protect her no matter what. Erin reluctantly agrees, and she and Jimmy embrace, as he reminds Erin about how much he loves her. As this happens, Michael is taken to Instinctia for some training with Master Bird's spirit. Master Bird, after some discussion intructs Michael to prove to him how much he has advanced by defeating him in combat; Michael is able to defeat him, after which they talk about Xenu's final strike. Master Bird tells him that Xenu plans to open a portal to the Spirit World, which in turn would resurrect all of the mutants that have fought at Xenu's side throughout his conquest, in what would become the third Quantum War, a move which could come into effect when Xenu assumes his true self.

Meanwhile, Xenu, Scourge, Malvor, and both Torticuses, intent on making their first move, abandon the temple, and take up residence in the dungeons of the desolation, as Malvor finds out that this area of the desolation holds the key to providing Xenu with divine power never seen since he was sealed during the Quantum War. Malvor has brought with him a fleet of "Mass Production" Xenuzords to attack Sovereign City, and puts the dungeons on high alert, in the event that Discovery forces were to storm the area. As Xenu takes his positon, he orders Scourge and one Torticus brother to attack Sovereign City, while Malvor and the other Torticus brother are told to remain, with the former overseeing process the ultimate stage of Xenu's plan. As Commander Burnham is answering questions about the incoming attack on the city duing a press conference, At Ranger Ops - which is set to be decomissioned due to the emergency legislation, Lester gathers the group, along with Amy - who reveals that she has to leave to be reunited with her father, and holds a final dinner before the rangers carry out their final mission, since the food will go to waste anyway. Laura is full, but Jimmy is content to keep eating, as he and Erin share their food, and Daniel asks Lester to make a toast. Rather than dwell on what they've lost, and what the future holds for each individual, he chooses to toast to what they've gained, and how they have changed as people over the past couple of months. Though they were bound together under extreme circumstances, they have become a family. The camera focuses on each person as he describes the various roles: sons (Jimmy), daughters (Erin), brothers (Daniel), and the "slightly crazy uncle who, despite everything, still manages to come through for you in the end" (Lester himself); everyone but Erin gets a laugh at the last comment. He adds that they are the most optimistic (Jimmy), bravest (Michael), strategic (Daniel) and most compassionate (Laura) people he has ever had the honor to work with, and he whole team then toasts to family. After the dinner, Michael is in his living quarters looking back at happy memories of him and his friends, as his father inspects him, and as they remember the highs and lows of their journey, Commander Burnham tells him that through the immense feats he had gone through to help his friends against Xenu, he could never have been proud of him, while Michael realises that he has fullfilled his destiny in doing so, and feels like he is the true leader his team deserves. Michael however, wonders what is next for his friends and crew.

Elsewhere, most of the rangers are seeing their loved ones one last time before they participate in the Sovereign City offensive. Jimmy arrives home one last time to tell his mom about what will be happening tomorrow, but his mom knows that the every civilian living in the city will have to be evacuated. He then tells his mom about his heartbreaking coversation with Erin earlier, and explains that she may not have anywhere to live once her contract at Discovery is up, Mrs. Sophocles is moved by what Jimmy has told her about Erin, and the two aggree that Erin should come and live with them, and they will arrange something with Lester once the mission is over. At her family's mansion, Arnold Jacobs is hosting a dinner with Laura's wider family when Laura herself bursts in, and informs her family that she her contract at Discovery is nearing expiration, despite her obligations, and openly explains, especially to her father, that prior to learning about her contract, her subsequent life was at a crossroads - being torn between her role at Discovery, or her planned racing career. Now that Laura's contract is almost up, Arnold says that Laura she can completely focus on racing, but is made up that she won't have to deal with any "nasty sub-atomic hijinks" ever again; Laura is still unhappy with Commander Burnham's decision to terminate their contracts at Discovery, but understands what lies ahead. At his homestead in Missouri, Daniel visits his wife and daughters one last time; He reaffirms his promise to a clearly nervous Samantha - who is revealed to have become pregnant, that this would be his final mission at Discovery and vows that he would return and finish redecorating the house. At ops, which is being emptied by U-Haul workers, Amy packs her bags, and leaves to see her estranged family, as Lester checks on Erin, who tells Lester about how scared she is about the coming battle, and fears that she will be one of many to lose their lives; Lester feels sorry that she was not cut out for the Power Ranger business after all, having struggled with her already-unstable mental health for months. Erin then tells Lester how much she was able to make a friend in Jimmy, whom she sees as her only "proper" friend, and notes that having him for company has made things a lot more easy for her, as Lester remarks about how touching it has been to see her relationship with Jimmy develop over the past few months, before he brings up about his attempts to find an adoptive family for her, apologsing to her for not finding one sooner, and that rises in adoption costs had risen to a record high, which made it hard. Erin understands, as Lester, who is proud of Erin for putting up with this very well over the past few months, and being honest about her experiences, tells her that something will be sorted out in terms of where she can live once the war against Xenu is finished, as he leaves ranger ops with all of his belongings, while Erin, who is very worried about what lies ahead, remains for while silently looking to the ceiling for a second, then leaves.

The next morning, citizens across Sovereign City are being evacuatied, and Discovery operatives are ready to defend Discovery Command, as well as the entire city. The six crew members are in the command room waiting for Commander Burnham, who gives a speech to his rangers about everything that has happened over the past months has all led to this, and this is now the moment for them all to be resolute in saving the world; They are all in, and the six rangers depart to assist Discovery forces, while the commander helps defend the base. The six rangers are in a Discovery convoy with Corporal Kerimov's unit, as Xenu's forces begin to close in on the city. As they explore the under-siege city, Xenu delivers a televised broadcast to Sovereign City, and the entire world, declarinjg that Sovereign City now belongs to him, and not even the millitary, the Discovery Corps, and soon, the Power Rangers, can stop him. The attack then begins, with Zealots and MPXs attacking the team; after an unmorphed fight, the team notices an explosion in the town square, and arrive at the scene, where Scourge and Torticus II are waiting, flanked by Mass Production Zords and Zealots. The team then morphs as the MPXs fire at them, the rangers then emerge one-by-one in a roll call, and while Michael takes on Scourge, the others deal with the MPXs, Zealots, and eventually Torticus II, with Jimmy protecting Erin and fighting at her side during the struggle. While Scourge flees after a long battle with Michael, the others struggle against the zords, with Jimmy even freaking out that they are "way worse than Zealots". As all of this happens, a core begins to slowly envelop around Xenu, slowly sealing him within a core, as his Generation 15 body slowly disintegrates, and his being is subsumed by the constructing core. Amid extreme pressure, Discovery forces intervene, allowing the whole team turn their attention to Torticus. After they finish Torticus off with a Primal Geyser, Malvor, since Xenu is comatose, invokes Order 57, enlarging Torticus. As Scourge levels the streets with the help of hordes of MPXs and Zealots, The Rangers form their megazords; Michael summons the Whale Titanzord, while Daniel and Laura form the Octo Discovery Megazord, Jimmy and Erin form the KongaMax Megazord, and Lester forms the Continental Megazord. As the rangers, in their megazords, fight Torticus, Xenu's armies attack Discovery Command, as MPXs and Zealots, commanded by Scoruge, attack every corner of the base; as Commander Burnham defends the command room - with Lester-Tron at the controls, Scourge attacks, and confronts the commander, who, after an altercation with the Xenzin Master, morphs into the Avalon Ranger and duels with Scourge, causing major damage to the room in the process, as Lester-Tron de-activates himself out of caution.

Torticus overwhelms the Rangers, so Lester gets out the Condor Bass Staff, which provides the team with an opening as the Condor Zord attacks as the the Condor Battlezord, buying time for the other megazords to attack. As this happens, Scourge and Burnham continue to duel, trashing the hallways of Discovery Command in the process, as the base continues to be stormed by large hordes of Xenu's millitia. After a long zord battle, the rangers combine into the Discovery Ultrazord to finish off Torticus II for good, while the commander's duel with Scourge ends in a stalemate as the latter flees onto the city streets to cause further chaos, as the U.S. Army and Air Force are called in to aid Discovery's forces. As a result, Commander Burnham, having been informed that Xenu's core is developing, realises that sending a group to Xenu's desolation is the only way the war can be stopped, so he contacts the rangers to meet him near the quantum tunnel back at the base. When the team regroups with the commander, they are told that Xenu's core is developing by the minute, and a small group needs to be sent there to destroy Xenu there, while he, Michael, and at one other ranger will remain in the city to deal with Scourge's forces. He makes Michael decide which one will remain with him; just as Michael is about to choose Laura, Daniel volunteers to aid Michael and his father in defending the city. With that, Michael, knowing that the others are going to be in great danger, bids them farewell, while also reminding Jimmy to take care of Erin. With that, Lester, Laura, Erin and Jimmy leave in the QTV for Xenu's desolation, as Michael joins Daniel and Commander Burnham in continuing to defend the city. In the city, Scourge is levelling the streets as Zealots and MPXs, most of which have now enlarged themselves, cause further destruction to the streets, and yells for the rangers to confront him. Meanwhile, the others reach Xenu's realm, Malvor, sensing their arrival, orders Xenu's army to guard the enterance to the cave. In the QTV, as Jimmy comments on how he has a bad feeling about the coming raid, Lester, who has the coordinates to where the core is in the lower levels, says that there's no turning back now, as they begin to make their move to storm the dungeon. Inside, Xenu's core has finished constructing itself, and is begining to gather more Xenzin, presumably hinting a significant physical change in Xenu.
