Synopsis[]

Daniel becomes concerned when Xenu's latest disciple is acting as if it recognises him. As he attempts to keep the truth about his situation a secret to the rest of the team, he begins to learn that the disciple contains memories of someone from his past.

Plot[]

At Xenu's throne room, Cubois has commissioned a Generation 12 disciple, the Sumo Slammer. His master sends him with the disciple in tow, along with the Evil Red Ranger, while he and the remaining generals enact a search for Scermazu, as Malvor pretends he knows nothing. Meanwhile, there is an opening of a new Human-Instinctian research facility in Sovereign City, with the Rangers in attendance. Mayor Dawkins, still angry over the recent vote, gives an uncharismatic speech there, as the facility is opened. Suddenly, one of the energy towers is about to fall, and Michael notices this as another Xenu attack, as the crowd beings to panic. The rangers then morph and fight the disciple, Cubois, and the Evil Red Ranger. As the rangers fight the disciple, the Sumo Slammer violently attacks them, but seems to act scared when Daniel tries to fight it. The disciple helplessly tries to stop Daniel from hurting it further, and flees. Daniel is confused, and he does not understand why the disciple would be scared of him, let alone confront the others normally. Jimmy jokingly points out that it may just be scared of lions, but Lester says that there could be more to it.

Cubois then returns to Xenu's lair, Xenu demands to know where the disciple is, to which he responds by saying he got acted if he knew the Yellow Ranger, which leads Xenu to order him to perform a DNA scan on its schematics. After Xenu learns that human DNA has been found in its coding, Xenu has it decommissioned and orders production on a new disciple to keep the Rangers busy. At Ranger Ops, Lester analyses the disciple's schematics, and confirms human DNA has been embedded into it, and that it is that of a deceased human, but Daniel wants to investigate this himself, even though the others, particularly Laura and Michael, want to help him. Lester volunteers to help Daniel investigate the disciple further, and has the others do their own thing; Laura and Michael say their going to do some training with the Commander, while Jimmy says he and Erin are going to see a movie, but Lester reminds him to do more on the Whale Titanzord's coding if possible. With the others gone, Lester scans through the DNA's memory file, and identifies the person in the disciple's records as Porter Elahi, Daniel's younger brother who was killed when he served in Iraq. Daniel, shocked to find out his brother is alive, wants to go alone and find the disciple; Lester gets up his location and will monitor his progress, but tells him to be careful, before he reminds him that he has made a DNA matching device to aid Daniel in his search, which he says is more accurate.

Daniel reaches the location sent to him and starts looking for the disciple alone. Daniel approaches the disciple, who is scared of him, and tells him that he doesn't mean any harm, but the disciple, scared, attacks him, prompting Daniel to morph. After a long and hard battle, Daniel, having been de-morphed in the struggle, is able to hold him in place and scans his DNA, confirming Lester's suspicions. When Daniel, after saying his brother's name in an attempt to soothe him, after which the disciple says, in Porter's voice, "Daniel?". Daniel embraces him, but Porter, trapped in the disciple's body, does not remember his past life at all, and is found to be unable to control the disciple's evil programming. After Porter looks in a lake at what he has become, he malfunctions and despite Daniel's best efforts to contain and calm him, he runs away, much to Daniel's frustration. He reports back to Lester to confirm this, but deduces that he failed to contain him to be experimented, and urges him to keep this a secret from the others. Meanwhile in Xenu's lair, Xenu, angered by so many flaws in Generation 12 disciple programming, has Cubois commission the Generation 13 Tentacle Dish to carry out the next disciple attack.

In the command room, Michael and Laura are scanning the possible whereabouts of the Sumo Slammer when Daniel and Lester join them, with the latter reminding them Daniel has identified the human within the disciple, but has personally chosen to keep it a secret, leaving Michael and Laura to question why Daniel is keeping this a secret from the whole team, Suddenly, the Sumo Slammer is detected on the radar, and Daniel goes after it alone, knowing that the disciple has his brother's likeness. Jimmy and Erin arrive just in time, with Michael asking them how their "date" went. They then discuss Daniel's connection to the disciple with the commander, but the discussion is interupted when reports are recieved of the other disciple. Lester stays behind to continue to modify the Whale Titanzord's coding, but tells the others to call him in should they need the zords. With that, Michael, Laura, Erin and JImmy morph, and regroup with an already-morphed Daniel, who is looking for the Sumo Slammer - who, unbeknownst to the others, is his brother, moments before they are ambushed by the Tentacle Dish, escorted by Cubois and Imperiax, who taunts Daniel for losing his "soulmate", and wants to take him out first. A hectic fight then ensues, where the Tentacle Dish attacks by lashing its face tentacles, using its spear, and blasting heat at the Rangers. To make matters more interesting, Cubois summons a horde of Zealots to keep the rangers busy.

Porter, whom only Daniel can understand, resurfaces amidst the chaos, and attacks the other rangers, but Daniel chases after it, as the Tentacle Dish proves a worthy opponent. Michael uses the Whale Cannon to launch a "Deep-Lock" Primal Geyser attack to freeze it. On the bridge, Daniel tries to calm his brother down, he goes into Primal Attack, only to be overpowered as Porter tells him to leave him alone. When his energy level his low, Porter slams him onto the ground, de-morphing him, but Laura, Jimmy and Erin launch Primal Blasts at the Sumo Slammer, but Daniel jumps in front of the ensuing blast to protect him. Porter's memories kick in, showing his final moments with Daniel before he was killed in a Taliban airstrike. After a short struggle, Daniel pulls Porter up to safety, and Michael, Laura, Erin and Jimmy surround him, and are shocked as to why Daniel would protect a disciple; Daniel reveals to them that this disciple is his brother, much to everyone's shock and surprise. Imperiax, carrying a token in the form of Order 57, throws it at the Tentacle Dish, releasing it and enlarging it. At this sight, Michael says the family reunion can wait as he and the others go off to confront it, but Daniel ties his brother up to the bridge to ensure he doesn't escape, promising to be return for him.

Back in the command room, Lester is contacted by Erin, who says that they need the zords. Lester says he'll prep the zord sequence from here, with the Rhino Wheeler carrying the other nine zords, before he morphs and departs in the Rhino Wheeler to the rangers' coordinates. In the city, the Tentacle Dish is melting down buildings until it is attacked by the Rhino Wheeler's weapons. The rangers then combine their Omnizords into the Grand Discovery Megazord on the spot, but the disciple's heat is too strong. As Porter looks on, Michael gets out the Whale Cannon and summons the Whale Titanzord, which temporarily freezes the disciple before it shifts to Battle Mode. The Titanzord provides an opening for the other Rangers, which allows them to finish the Tentacle Dish off for good. Afterwards, Daniel hops out of the cockpit, de-morphs, and notices Porter is gone, as he helplessly shouts his name. Suddenly, an unknown alien ship, piloted by a familiar foe, launches a surprise attack on both megazords, before it retreats. Afterwards, Daniel is in the command room, overseeing the base's map has he has the others search the base for his brother, calling down to them that no one rests until he is found. Meanwhile, Xenu orders his generals, including Malvor, to hunt Scermazu down and destroy him immediately; as Malvor leaves, he decides to form an alliance with him, knowing what his next move is.

Daniel is still getting worked up about his brother's whereabouts, as the others come in and tell them that they looked everywhere and there was no sign of Porter. Daniel says he will continue to search for his brother himself, but the other rangers tell him that they have looked everywhere, and want him to understand the truth: his brother is now gone forever, with Jimmy even reminding him that he has a wife and two children to think about. Daniel, however is adamant that his brother is still alive, and as he begins to search for him himself, the commander arrives and informs Daniel that while his brother had been found, there is currently no way to undo the disciple programming and restore his human body, and he must be placed in stasis until a way to restore his body can be found. Daniel goes with the commander to say a proper goodbye to his brother, but before the commander leaves, he congratulates the efforts of the other rangers for the day. As the remaining rangers leave, Lester reminds Jimmy there's a lot of work to do on the zord coding when they get back to ops. In the stasis hall, Commander Burnham takes Daniel to see his brother one last time; the brothers hug goodbye, with Daniel telling Porter that he will see him once they find a solution to make him human again, after which Porter is sealed within the stasis pod as Daniel emotionally looks on.
