Learning to be a Ranger is the second episode of Power Rangers Digital Dynasty.
Synopsis[]
The new Rangers fight against the Anonymen and morph for the first time, learning about teamwork.
Plot[]
The teens get teleported to the top of a quiet city center, wondering if they're okay and how this could have happened plus HQ, worried, asking to be pinched to make sure he's not dreaming, in pain and realizing this is reality. Kian was starting to feel bad while Samantha used her communication glasses to notice that Anonymen had appeared through digital doors.
She warns the team who see more and more of them approaching them in an abnormal way. One of them will try to attack Kian but he quickly manages to dodge it. Thus, the team realizes the threat that is attacking them and decides to fight against them, although they are initially frightened.
Using some tactics and quick thinking from HQ hopping into a crane with Kian and working together as a team, they vanquish the Anonymen in pretty quick succession with no one getting defeated and taken down.
It is then that a monster called Mongo appears before the Rangers following an earthquake. The team became very worried about him with Riley asking them what can they do now. At this time Alec says "It's morphin time!" and the Rangers morph for the very first time.
The team jumps in with both feet to join in and find themselves all delighted with their new costumes and powers then they disperse to defeat Mongo and his Anonymen. Having seen Dynasty Blue, Sam is shocked to see that HQ has become a gorilla. He is also surprised, guessing that she is a rabbit. She realizes this as she jumps around the Anonymen's attacks fending them off.
A woman in white, revealing herself to be Attracta, appears and watches Mongo fight the Rangers. Dynasty Red calls to finish off Mongo so the other four members join him. They defeat Mongo by summoning them using their final attack on him. Following his defeat the Rangers find themselves super happy and excited about their first battle and victory.
As the Woman in White approaches the Rangers, Dynasty Red turns serious and addresses her, asking who she is and what her goal is. He decides to gain confidence in himself and fight against her, however Attracta escapes by teleportation. The Rangers also find themselves teleported by a flash of light by the Game Master.
After the fight, the Game Master congratulates them all on the great work they have done and that he thinks they have understood what teamwork is. Kian, however, looks disconcerted, believing that perhaps he was not meant to be here. Riley asks him why knowing that he did a good job in battle and helped them as best he could. He replies that he was of no use but she retorts, reassuring him and telling him how great and courageous he is and repeating how they couldn't have done all this without him.
Samantha also reassures Kian and also repeats the same things as Riley. He thinks the Game Master was wrong but Alec reassures him that if they're all here right now, it's not for nothing and tells him that their team is like a puzzle that Kian is part of, with Riley adding Thatās teamwork. The Game Master says nothing, simply smiling at the confirmation of what he said earlier and makes them understand why they were chosen.
After their car ride, them all return to the dorms, just after Riley calls Dr. Edwin Wilson, the dean of the college, in phone for some kind of favor he owes her for helping him move some furniture last summer, helping them return after curfew.
The next day, the director wakes up all the UCAG students via his microphone from his office. Riley apologizes to the college dean for calling him so late yesterday, "explaining" that she had a small cleaning problem for freshman orientation night and that four other students in that class year volunteered to help her. She asks him if he wouldn't mind letting them be the hall monitors and that they'll arrive in 10 minutes. He refuses knowing it is a lie, much to Alec's annoyance. Riley gets a text from Tracy, her birth mother, which she decides to ignore and not answer.
Later, they all meet up at Angel Groove Juice Bar to relax a little. Kian, who arrived there, took out a huge bag containing his neon pink and black laptop which he placed on the table. Alec looked at the screen and found himself interested in what turned out to be a game. Suddenly, the communicator glasses flashed so the Rangers leaned over and heard the Game Master immediately asking them to come to the Command Ship. Riley worries that she doesn't want to go back to that career but HQ and Alec came up with the idea of āāusing the car.
They go back to the Command Ship by this same flash of light and The Game Master offered them a virtual training session in which the Rangers could train, which they all accepted. They pass through a door, unknown to all, which takes them into a sort of foreign city at sunset. The mentor called this place their training center so that they could train quietly and learn more about teamwork.
Above all he tells them about the Evil Digital Aliens, digital aliens seeking to conquer the Earth and the entire universe for their emperor and that only they can defeat them. He also reveals to them that he is not real but a digital avatar created by the Morphin Masters so that he can train them. They all morph and that's where they find themselves fighting against Alec, who volunteers to fight them all and he manages to beat them all.
They do some training to really focus on how to use their Digital Morphers and the Rangers realize teamwork is the way to go.
