Julian Atkinson is an excellent creative artist who leads the modern Crystal Fury Rangers as the second Crystal Fury Red Ranger to prevent another Crystalian war from happening. He is also the main protagonist of Power Rangers Crystal Fury.
In "The Arrival of Lord Cronus", Julian learns from the Red Morphin Master that he is the chosen one of the Morphin Grid and explains to him and his team that the reason of, why they were chosen, why he has these dreams about Crystalia and Artemis and how come he has powers linked to his drawings was due to this. He also closely tied to King Soarin because they both come from the same spark of power.
Character History[]
Become a Power Ranger[]
Before becoming a Power Ranger, Julian Atkinson was a drawer who loved to draw since his early childhood, having a great passion for art. During his young adult years at college, he receives blurred visions about a Crystalian King, the Warriors of Crystalia and their battle against the Othrys Empire during the Crystalia War. After one such dream, he woke up in class. Later that day, at CARAT, Princess Esmeralda uses the Crystal Gems she took with her, being able to sense a person's worth, to search for warriors with a powerful shining spirit, flying across Pine Ridge in search of these people. After the 4 other Crystal Rangers were chosen, the Red Crystal Gem finally found the last one at an Art School, where Julian has been sketching a portrait of the Crystal Fury Yellow, Green, Blue and Pink Rangers fighting (based on what he saw in his dream).
As the empire attacks, Julian is chosen by the Red Crystal Gem to become the Red Ranger. Teleported to CARAT by the gem, Julian asks a multitude of questions about what's going on and where he is, before Esmeralda and Mick Kanic explain the situation to him and show him images of the new modern Crystal Fury Rangers fighting Gnomes in the city (which was strange for him given that he had already seen those suits in a dream that very morning). He declines the position of Red Ranger, calling himself unfit for the role. But before leaving, Julian drops his sketchbook, which Esmeralda grabs and gives back to him, eventually complimenting his drawings.
He is greeted by the four other members and Mr. Kanic, who all congratulate him! He is delighted to learn that he is supposed to be the leader of the team. In Crystalia, there is a rule that whoever is chosen by the Red Crystal Gem will become the leader of the Crystal Fury Rangers. It's not like he can say no, but just then the enemy launches another sudden attack. A strange monster with the head of a rugby ball destroyed part of the city, claiming that a rugby match was about to start. As the Rangers begin to rush into battle and Julian tries to act like a leader.
Personality[]
Julian is a born leader, although he may not know it yet. He is easily distracted by his hobby, though he can draw extremely realistic images when he feels the need to, while being incredibly quick and adaptive. Despite this, he knows when to take responsibility and his leadership role is unquestionable. His artistic hobby gives him extreme creativity, which has allowed him to create Zords.
Julian is the Chosen One of Crystalia and the Morphin Grid. He has a special power and connection to both Morphin Grid and the King of Crystalia, that allows him to make his creativity real and that's why he tends to show behaviors almost identical to those of King Soarin.
Crystal Fury Red Ranger[]

Using the Crystal Morpher, Julian can access his Ranger Form by pressing on the red button that symbolizes a Ranger helmet and then spins the "tire" to transform into his default form allowing him to become the Crystal Fury Red Ranger. In this form he has access to individual weapons and zords that he can use in battle against the Othrys Empire and their Masked Monsters. While Julian can not just help create and aid his team members while drawing the items that are needed, he can even draw concepts of his and his teams' zords including other individual zords that aids them in battle against the Masked Beasts.

Being a student studying the art, Julian is the only member of his team to not have developed his own fighting style prior to joining the Crystal Rangers. Though he is sometimes shown training with the others, he currently lacks Camile's stamina and speed, Lionel's marksmanship, Lance's swordsmanship, and Sarah's martial arts knowledge. What he lacks in physical ability, however, he more than compensates for in mental ability.
- Imagination Manifestation: Julian possesses a strong imagination that allows him to bring whatever he draws, whether it be any material, being or tool originating from his imagination, into existence and literally bring his wildest ideas into reality. He is the only member of the Crystal Fury Rangers with this ability. In Julian's dreams, King Soarin's spirit has explained to him that his ability to do this is because of his connection with Soarin and the Morphin Grid itself, being the Chosen One.
- Precognition: While Julian can imagine anything that he can easily draw on his notebook, he can even perceive the future through his dreams, though this ability can only trigger when he can draw something useful.
Attacks[]
Flaming Alphasm Bird: The Crystal Fury Red Ranger could draw his Crystal Saber around him to generate colorful flames and then throw an avatar of a bird from it at his opponents. This was a counterpart to the Beast Wolf Omega attack performed by Artemis.

Using the Phoenix Bow, Julian and/or his teammates can access this powerful form by pressing on the red button that symbolizes the Phoenix Mode and then firing the arrow to transform into his Phoenix Mode. In this form he has access to the Phoenix Bow and a Zord that he can use in battle against the Othrys Empire and their Masked Monsters.

The Crystal Battlizer is Julian Atkinson's Battlized form. Using both the Crystalzords and the Ultimate Stones, Julian access this incredibly powerful form by gathering all of them. In this form he has access to every arsenal and Zords of the Crystal Fury Rangers, being able to summon them at will. He can also manually and with no limit use the powers of the Ultimate Stones, making him virtually invincible.

- Julian is the first ever Red Ranger of the Reiwa franchise.
- Julian was originally going to be a Crystalian but that idea was eventually scrapped and the idea of him being the chosen one (like Troy Burrows/Megaforce Red) was taken up.
- He was also supposed to be a girl.
- Julian was also mean to be played by Freddie Highmore but Jonathan Daviss was finally chosen.
- Freddie Highmore would later playing the role of another Red Ranger three years later.
- He was originally supposed to receive an original Battlizer for one episode, however, the idea was ultimately abandoned as well before later being reprised for the Royal Cosmic two-part team-up episode "Insects and Crystals".
- Therefore, Julian is the first ever Red Ranger to receive a Battlizer and the first to receive one that is original.
