This article is about a/an fanfictionalized era in the Power Rangers franchise.

The Hasbro Era is the unofficial term that refers to the seasons of Power Rangers that were produced after Hasbro acquired the franchise from Saban in May 2018. The Hasbro Era started in 2019 with Power Rangers Beast Morphers, broadcast on Nickelodeon until the partnership contract with Nickelodeon expired in 2021, after which Hasbro signed a partnership contract with Netflix, after which episodes were released on the streaming service starting with the last 11 episodes of the first season of Power Rangers Dino Fury. The Hasbro Era of Power Rangers lasted from 2019 to 2024 when Sony acquired the full rights to the franchise in December 2024, starting the Sony Era of Power Rangers.

As part of Hasbro's partnership with Nickelodeon, individual seasons generally consist of a total of 22 episodes, a regular 20 episode run split into two 10 episode halves along with a Halloween and Christmas special each year. As part of Hasbro's partnership with Netflix, episodes were released differently every season. For the second season of Dino Fury, a 22 episode season was split into two 11 episode volumes, which were released within six months of each other. For Cosmic Fury, despite offering Hasbro a 20 episode season count, Hasbro opted to produce only 10, which were released at once.

In-universe, the Hasbro Era is known as either the Fourth Post-Zordon Era or else just the Fourth Era for short. It is the fourth of the Post-Zordon Eras.

History[]

Saban Brands announced on February 15, 2018 that they would end their global Power Rangers master toy license agreement with Bandai America, effective April 2019. The following day, it was announced that they would instead partner with Hasbro to make Power Rangers toys, with their first series, Power Rangers Beast Morphers, subsequently being revealed on February 17.

On May 1, 2018, Hasbro announced their plans to acquire the brand in full for $522 million in cash and stocks, with Haim Saban remaining in an advisory role going forward. In 2020, a young-adult oriented reboot in the style of the 2017 film was announced to be in development with Jonathan Entwistle and Jenny Klein attached to develop for Netflix. However, Hasbro subsequently ended its creative partnership with Netflix following the release of Cosmic Fury, cancelling the planned reboot as a result. Afterwards, Hasbro signed a creative partnership with deal with Sony, who had agreed to finance future projects in the franchise. Together, Hasbro and Sony produced Day of the Dragon for Disney+, which was released on March 24, 2024. In November 2024, it was announced that Sony was interested in acquiring the franchise. The following month, it was announced that Sony had acquired the franchise in a three-way exchange in intellectual properties between Sony, Hasbro, and Disney, with Hasbro retaining the license to manufacture and distribute Power Rangers toys in the deal.

Notes[]

  • This is the first era where Bandai does not make the toys, with Hasbro producing them alongside the show.
  • This is the first era to use footage of a previously skipped ā€œSuper Sentaiā€ series for a season. At the same time, is the first era to jump ahead further than one Sentai season for an adaptation, meaning that adaptations of skipped-over Sentai seasons are not ruled out.
    • It is also the first era to adapt a Sentai from a different era than Japan is present.
  • Unlike the Neo-Saban Era, Hasbro didn't add the word "super" to the title of Beast Morphers season 2.
    • Also in season 2, Saban's name was removed from the title.
  • With the exception of Dino Fury Season 2 and Cosmic Fury, each show premiered at 8:00 A.M. (ET/PT).
  • Cosmic Fury and Day of the Dragon are the only seasons of the Hasbro Era to not have a Red Ranger gain a battlizer.
    • Day of the Dragon is also the only season of the Hasbro Era to be a sequel to a reboot film.
  • The Hasbro Era Ranger series marks the return of recurring elements within the Power Rangers series, which existed in the Zordon Era and Post-Zordon Era series.
  • The Hasbro Era is tied with the Post-Zordon Era for the shortest era, with four seasons each.
