Gensou Sentai Mirageman (幻想戦隊ミラージュマン Gensō Sentai Mirājuman?, translates as Illusion Task Force Mirageman) is the 45th season of Super Sentai. It has a motif consisting of illusions, espionage, and alternate realities. The series pays a homage to Sentai Series pre-Zyuranger and, unlike the recent Sentai series, will include more mature tones and will have serial-like storylines usually found in Japanese television dramas.

Mirageman began airing on March 7, 2021, replacing Mashin Sentai Kiramager and joining Kamen Rider SaberIcon-crosswiki as a part of the Super Hero TimeIcon-crosswiki line-up. After Saber's finale, Mirageman will be joined by Kamen Rider TenaurIcon-crosswiki on September 5, 2021. On March 13, 2022 Mirageman was replaced by Minwa Sentai Donbrothers in the Super Hero Time line up.

The series was dubbed in South Korea as Power Rangers Mirage Force (파워 레인저 미라지 포스 Pawo Leinjeo Milaji Poseu).

Production

On September 22, 2020, Toei announced the trademark for the series. The characters and most cast were announced the following month. Toei announced on October 21, 2020, that the season would start filming as early as December 2020, however, due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the cast and crew would have to follow guidelines, suggested by Toei during filming of Mashin Sentai Kiramager and Kamen Rider Zero-OneIcon-crosswiki earlier that year, to protect themselves and to prevent the spread of the virus. On October 23, just two days later, Toei announced production will start in early-January, 2021. On October 28, 2020, Toei announced the series' main villain along with other characters the following weeks. By November 4, 2020, Toei revealed that filming for Mirageman would commence on January 11, 2021. However, on November 19, 2020, just over two weeks after the announcement, filming has been moved to the following week due to the increase of COVID cases in Japan. Despite that announcement, there have been leaked photos of the cast filming a scene of an episode, which implies that the series' production might've started early than anticipated. On January 15, 2020, Toei held a press conference for the series. Producer Chihiro Inoue confirmed that due to the Japan currently in a state of emergency due to the increase in COVID cases, some episodes, including the prologue film and the pilot episode were filmed back-to-back. On Febuary 7, 2021, during an interview, the series head director Shojiro Nakazawa revealed that production for Mirageman began on December 28, 2020. On May 25, 2021, Toei announced on their twitter account that Mirageman has finished filming the first half of the series. Production would go on hiatus starting the following week so that Tokyo could began preparations for the Summer Olympics, filming would resume as early as July 5.

Production was completed on January 18, 2022.

On April 20, 2021, following the impending (rumored) partnership between Toei and Hasbro coming to an end, Toei's president and CEO Noriyuki Tada announced his thoughts of distributing Super Sentai internationally. Netflix, Warner Bros Entertainment, and Shout Factory are currently the candidates for distributing the franchise in the United States. In early 2022, Shout Factory gained international distribution rights for future Super Sentai seasons. Mirageman will be released in America as a Tubi original series.
