Friendly Fire is the fourth episode of Power Rangers Multiverse. It serves as a tribute to Power Rangers Dino Charge, Ninja Steel and Beast Morphers. It also features the debut of the Corruptions. It is the first of several tributes this season.
Synopsis[]
Overwhelmed by constant attacks by the Dark Empire, Kaito grapples with whether he should keep his investigation secret from Nya or not. But the team is challenged by three Corruptions, past rangers whose powers have been corrupted for evil, Tyler Navarro, Brody Romero and Devon Daniels. Can the rangers save the past rangers and stop the horde of Tenebris Legionaries, or will they be forced to destroy them?
Plot[]
Having gathered intelligence of an imperial assault on the G.D.A. headquarters, the rangers scramble to intercept their forces. Using their zords, Nya, Martin and Himari form the Multiverse Megazord to face the giant monsters whilst the others attack the foot soldiers. Martin remarks that this was the fourth time this week that there had been an attack of this scale. Kaito asks if the Empire ever gets tired from their constant assaults, Nya snaps at him, saying that if he had time to quip he had time to keep fighting, as the monster damages the megazord. Before Kaito responds, Nya tells him to look out as the second monster nearly crushes him underfoot. Swerving away from it, Kaito thanks her as he goes off to destroy more foot soldiers. Meanwhile, the Megazords fight with giant monsters goes badly. As Yua descends to fire, the monster launches an electric attack at her. Unable to pull up in time, Martin drives his zord in to the blast, taking the hit for Yua. Scrambling to restore power to his zord, Martin gets electrocuted by the circuitry and gets knocked out. Oliver tries to contact him but to no avail. Nya tells Oliver to remotely pilot the zord away, saying that Martin's zord would get crushed out here. Seeing that the number of soldiers had dwindled, Nya tells Kaito and Yua to remotely combine with Martin's zord. Using the combined power of the megazords, they destroy the remaining monster, causing the rest of the forces to retreat. Nya relaxes slightly at the sight of their victory, slightly sinking into her seat. Himari wonders if more attacks will come. Oliver says that given how fast they mobilized in the last three attacks, it was more than likely that this wouldn't be the last engagement with them. Yua asks how so many troops were able to assemble when they didn't detect any sort of landing craft. Nya responds that however they were mounting their attacks, they weren't going to figure it out here, and they needed to get Martin to the infirmary and return to base.
After returning to the base and reviving Martin, the team meets with Commander Davis to debrief them. Martin wonders how so many troops could be mobilized so quickly and so many times. Davis responds that they had given the matter some thought before they arrived and that there was a possibility as to how they accomplished it. When Nya asks what it was, Kaito responds that they must have a base on the planet. Davis asks how he found out. Kaito tells the others that either the empire had developed a cloaking system so advanced to be undetectable or that during their initial invasion, they had set up a base of operations for their invasion. He brought out a map of the original attack, saying that because of the amount of drop ships and troops in the area could have masked the arrival of more ships in another area. Davis agrees with him, asking him how he figured it out. Kaito replies that he was a detective on his earth before he became a ranger. Nya chimes in that if such a base did exist, they had to find it and destroy it, saying that it would severely weaken the empire's ability to fight. Just then, a G.D.A. staff member enters the room, first apologizing to Davis for the interruption saying that an urgent distress signal was coming from Grid Battleforce.
At a nearby viewing screen the team is shown a message from Devon Daniels, the commander of Grid Battleforce. From a broken and half-destroyed command center, Devon says that the attack was too quick for them to react that the other Beast Morphers rangers had been captured. Urgently, he says that their archives had been hacked and that the empire had stolen all their information on the past rangers. Before he can finish, the footage becomes corrupted as Devon begins to morph to fight an unknown assailant. Flashes of light appear on screen. A blast is seen and Devon is knocked into the wall, unconscious and the screen dissolved into static. The G.D.A. staff member says that the message was received ten minutes ago. Davis asks why they took so long to tell them of the message. The staff member responds that the message was encrypted and that it took time to decrypt it. Nya says that they have to go and help the Beast Morpher Rangers. Oliver points out that they had probably all been captured at this point. Himari asks what the Dark Empire could do with Grid Battleforce’s ranger archives. Davis sighs, saying that their archives hold personal information of every ranger that came before them and that using that information, they could attack every ranger on this earth. Nya insists that they should go and rescue the rangers, however is forestalled by Kaito, who asks a nearby technician if they had detected anything leaving the atmosphere. The technician responds that nothing had left the earth for 36 hours but here had been a ship leaving and entering the atmosphere a week ago and one entering two weeks ago. Kaito responds that the attack didn't happen a week ago so those were inconsequential, but that if they hadn’t left the Earth that must mean the rangers would still be on earth and if they still were on the planet they’d have to be stored somewhere. Oliver responds that they must be held at the empire’s base. Rushing towards a nearby console, he began to type in commands, saying that if they still had their morphers with them, they could be tracked to the base. Davis tells Oliver to notify them when he has discerned the location of the base.
Leaving the room, Kaito stops Yua, asking her for a word. Moving towards a windowed corridor, Yua asks him what’s wrong. Kaito tells her he needs some advice, saying that after their last battle with the Accel and Shogun Rangers, Commander Davis had asked him to investigate something and not to tell anyone about the details, obviously, he added, for confidentiality. Yua responded that it was lucky, seeing that he was a detective. Kaito pointed out that that was the problem, how had Davis known he was a detective. Yua thought for a moment, proposing that his counterpart on this world was also a detective. Kaito thinks for a moment, saying that it wasn't the only thing that he wasn't sure about. He sighed, saying the conditions of the case were ones that he didn't like. Yua says that he shouldn't do anything that he didn't think was right. Kaito said that he didn't want to do this because he felt like he was, considering for a moment before saying that he felt like he was betraying his values. Kaito then reasons that if he did do this, he could potentially help someone who really needed it. He leans back on the wall, looking out of the window, musing that all his time learning with Shotaro didn't prepare him for this. Yua looks at him, saying that they'd come a long way from Fuuto. Kaito, still looking out the window, says that he felt guilty for this, them having their powers, being dragged away from their world, everything. Yua asking him how'd he worked that out. Kaito looks away from the window, saying that if she hadn't moved to Fuuto, which he added was definitely fault, saying that there was no use denying that, Yua wouldn't have been there when the attack happened. Yua smiles, saying that sometimes she didn't know how he ever managed to find the thief who stole the Double Driver, Kaito smiles at her. However at that moment, Martin comes saying that the Accel and Shogun Ranger were attacking, pausing at the scene he walked into, he abashedly apologizes, saying that Nya said they had five minutes to mobilize. Kaito and Yua back away from each other detrmindly not looking at each other or Martin, rushing with martin to the vehicle pool
Using the proto-Multiverse Cycles they arrive, morphed, at the attack site, a forest near the city, with a squadron of foot soldiers, three red monsters (cheetah, ninja and dinosaur monsters) and the Accel and Shogun Ranger awaiting them. Remarking at the monsters, Nya asks who they were. The Shogun Ranger scornfully laughs, saying that they would be the ones to kill them. He laments that they didn't come to Grid Battleforce ton rescue the Beast Morpher rangers, noting that they sent that message hours ago. Nya reacts with shock, saying that they sent that distress signal. The Accel Ranger responds that they had attacked Grid Battleforce a week ago and that distress message had been sent was from their first attack, and they released it now to bait them into attacking, lamenting that it dint work, attacking at that. Nya, Oliver and Himari attack the monsters whilst the rest fight the Rangers and troops. Noting the odd, almost forced way they moved, Himari said there was something off about them. The monsters proved to powerful for just the three rangers so Kaito, Martin and Yua reinforced them to fight to the dinosaur monster. The monster easily takes all their attacks and overpower the rangers. Using all their weapons finishers in unison at the dinosaur monster causing it to collapse, electrify coursing through its body. Using the scanners built into their helmets, Oliver notes that they have an unusually high connection to the Morphin Grid. Looking at the injured monster, Nya exclaims that those were Rangers. The team reacted with confusion, as the dinosaur monster suddenly reverts to human form, revealing Tyler Navarro gasping for air as he staggers to his feet. Martin asks what he did to them. The Accel Ranger gives a snort, saying these were Corruptions, monstrous versions of Rangers. He said they got the Beast Morpher Rangers in their attack on Grid Battleforce and they were able to travel across dimensions to get the Dino Charge Rangers, using the data on the Ninja Steel rangers to capture them. Staggering towards Nya, he tells her that the other rangers were being held somewhere near the mountains, but before he can elaborate, he passes out from exhaustion. Whilst fighting the Shogun ranger, Nya tells Yua and Martin to take Tyler back to base while the others hold the enemy off. Nya asks the Shogun Ranger how they can restore the rangers. He laughs saying that the only ones that can defeat a Corruption is a ranger with the same powers and that wouldn't be possible as they had all the Dino Charge, Ninja Steel and Beast Morpher rangers. Knock her away he and the Accel Ranger use their finishers to blast the rangers back, causing them to nearly deform. While their power are in flux, Kaito pulls out the black USB-like device considering it before their powers stabilize. Nya tells them to retreat, escaping on their Proto Multiverse-Cycles.
Back at the base's infirmary, Tyler was revived and conscious again. Himari picks up one of Tyler's Dino Chargers, examining it closely, commenting that on her Earth, the people wit his powers were called the Kyorugers and their powers looked exactly like his. Tyler asks how thats possible if they didn't use Energems. Himari responds that they used their bravery to power their suits. Kaito asks how they were captured if they were on another earth. Tyler responds that a blue streak brought his team through a portal, he followed after them and was met by two rangers and two monsters. Davis asked if he remembered anything else, Tyler responding that he remembered being held in some sort of lab and seeing a black ranger, saying that it was the Dark Emperor. Nya reacts with shock, Tyler saying that he told them that they would kill the Power rangers, starting with them. Davis asks if he still has his Dino Charge Morpher to which Tyler responds yes, taking it out. Nya asks how they were going to revert the Corruptions back to normal without killing them. Pondering this, Kaito asks how Tyler was able to power down from his Corrupted form. Tyler responds that probably the power of his energem, plus the damage he received during the battle, adding that he only had his energem because he wasn't initially captured. Nya points out that the other rangers won't have that, since they didn't have any of their arsenal with them. Oilver asks if he knew exactly where the base was, Tyler says that he doesn't know exactly were they being held, just that it was somewhere near the mountains, adding that he say it when they were bringing him to their base. He then adds that that one more ranger was corrupted, aside from him, Devon and Brody. Davis asks if they had any idea who it could be, Oliver responding that they can't be sure of any more captive rangers and that it was probably one of the Dino Charge, Ninja Steel or Beast Morpher rangers. Davis responds that they needed to double their efforts, telling Yua and and Kaito to to search near the mountains with their words, telling the rest of the team to help Oliver with his search, finally asking Tyler to get more rest. Tyler protests, saying that he can help with the search, Davis rebuking him, saying that he has endured a lot of strain and the he needed rest. While everyone left, Nya stayed behind, asking Tyler a question. Saying that she read that he lost his father at young, she asks how he coped with that. Tyler thinks about it for a minute, before answering, saying that at first he was lost, and fixated solely with finding his dad, but his friends helped him find a purpose and eventually, he found his dad, asking Nya if her parents died. Nya responds that they died when she was young. Tyler tells her thats if she lets her friends help her, she can recover from her parents death. Nya thanks him for talking to her. Himari comes into the infirmary, telling them that Oliver had found the base.
Congregating at a peak overlooking the base, the rangers look for weaknesses in the structure. Martin notes that the base is going to be nearly impossible to break in, noting the unusual amount of guards and sensors. Oliver notes that there's a hangar bay near them, suggesting that they could sneak in that way. Himari asks how they were going to get past the guards, Nya responding that that there was a 30-second interval were both the cameras and guards were facing away from the hangar, allowing them to sneak into the base. She asks Tyler if he was up for this, Tyler saying that he was ready. Nya tells the team and Tyler that this mission required absolute stealth to accomplish and not to morph before entering the base, as that would cause the enemy to be on the alert, stating somberly that they might have to kill the Corruptions to defeat them. Tyler responds that he wouldn't kill any of the rangers, Nya responds that she didn't want to either but it might have to come down to it if they couldn't be contained. They begin climbing up the mountain, when suddenly, some of the rock Yua was climbing on came away causing her to lose balance and nearly fall, if not for Martin grabbing her hand before she can fall. Making it up to the top they hide behind some crates, heading towards the door. Yua thanks Martin for helping her, Martin disclaims any credit, saying she would have done the same for him. However, this attracts the attention of the guards who begin to open fire at them. The rangers morph and face the guards. Yua and Martin hold off the guards, allowing the rest of the team to move deeper within the base. Arriving at a door reading "Storage and Stasis" Tyler says that he thinks this is the place the other rangers are. Breaching the door, they quickly defeat the guards and look for other rangers. The room is filled with pods of varying length all showing monsters. Looking at a nearby data pad, Oliver notes that these were all genetic experiments and looked quite similar to the giant monsters they had fought in the past. Nearby, there were several crates labeled "Infinity Vials" which caught Kaito's attention. Opening one, it reveals hundreds of blank infinity vials. Reacting with shock, he picks ups one examining it carefully, asking Oliver if it was possible to artificially create infinity vials. Oliver responds that there should only be three in the entire world, adding that the Empire could have gotten them from other universes before coming to this universe. They then hear Tyler, exclaiming that he had found the rangers. Rushing to meet him, they find thirteen stasis pods donating the captured rangers.
However, Martin's voice comes over the comms, saying that the Shogun and Accel Ranger were and they had four Corruptions with them. Nya tells Kaito and Oliver to work on reviving the rangers while the rest of them faced the Corruptions. Soon after she said that, Yua and Martin reappeared, with the Shogun And Accel Ranger on there tail, along with with the Corrupted red rangers along with two new corruptions, a pink triceratops one and a gold pteranodon one. Tyler reacts with shock, as the corruptions attack. However, the Corruptions attacks on Tyler prove to be extremely weak. Despite not wanting to hurt his friends, Tyler's attacks prove very damaging. Whilst Tyler deals with the corruptions the rest of the team attacks the red Corruptions and the rangers. Quickly escaping the combined lasts of Kaito, Himari and Yua, he charges at Tyler holding him by the throat. Before any go the rangers can assist Tyler, he takes out a Corrupted Vial, twisting the cap, releasing a green gas substance, causing Tyler to revert to his Corrupted form. Sniffing with contempt, the Accel Ranger muses that he apparently didn't receive a high enough dosage. Nya and Yua engaged the Corrupted Tyler while the rest of the team fight the other Corruptions. Using both their finishers on him, Tyler's Corruption falls, weakens. Charging at him Nya almost strikes him down before stopping, struggling with her conscious and her knowledge of the Corruptions power. Finally, she puts her saber down, refusing to kill him. The Accel Ranger than punched Nya at hyper speed, nearly knocking her out if not for Yua shooting with him personal weapon. Nya, Martin, Himari and Yua then use all their finishers to blast back the rangers and Corruptions, sealing the door against them. Just then, Oliver announces that he had finished, the pods opening to reveal the unconscious rangers. As they began to wake up, Steel asks were they were, a sentiment shared by Preston and Chase. Levi asks who they were, Nya responding that they were the power Rangers Multiverse, greeting the veteran rangers. Nya asks that they were captured by the Dark Empire and if they remembered anything. Sarah responds that there was an attack on Summer Cove High by two rangers but she couldn't recall anything else after that. Riley asks were was Tyler and the rangers. Martin told them that the other rangers had been Corrupted, turned into monstrous versions of rangers and that currently they were on the other side of the door. Calvin says they had to help them but that none of them their morphers. Nate points out that wasn't exactly true, revealing that he was Corruption. Nate explained that he was brought to some sort of laboratory and Corrupted with Tyler, Brody and Devon. He says that he can control it so he could fight them. Yua points out that the Dino Charge Corruptions were much weaker against Tyler, so Nate's Corrupted form could be at least on par with Devon's Corrupted form. Nya asks if he can even control this form, Nate says that he think he can, pointing out that there must have been a reason he wasn't used to fight them. Steel protests, saying that it was to dangerous to try to control. Nate says that he can control it, saying that this was the only was to fight against the4 Corruptions. Finally conceding, Nate takes a corrupted bottle out, Himari asks how he got that, Nate responding that he stole this from a guard when he wasn't looking. Turning the cap, green smoke was expelled from it causing Nate to collapse in pain, turning him into his Corrupted form. The other Beast Morpher rangers came to help but he held out his arm to stop them. Rising to his feet, he nods to Nya, saying that he was ready.
Just then the door was blasted open, the Corruptions and evil rangers attacking. Morphing, the Multiverse Rangers attack the Accel and Shogun Ranger while Nate attacks Deb=von, the other rangers fighting the corruptions. Nate tells Devon to wake up, his attacks proving to do more damage than the other rangers. Nya tells the rest of her team and the veteran rangers to get out and look for their morphers. Kaito asks what about them, Nya responding that she'll Cath up with them, insisting that they leave. Before the evil rangers can stop them. Nya revives five of the monsters in stasis, causing them to rampage and attack the evil rangers and Corruptions. Before Nya can leave, the Shogun Ranger tells her that nothing can stop the Dark Emperor and that they wouldn't be the last Corruptions. Nya tells him that they'll defend all the rangers and they would defeat the Empire. Before leaving she grabs a crate of blank Infinity Vials and runs, with several Corruptions after her. Meeting with the rest of her team, they tell her that the veteran rangers were searching for their morphers. However the conversation was cut short by the arrival of the Corruptions. Readying their weapons, Nya tells to hold out until the veteran rangers return. They attack, each Corruption fighting a ranger, while Kaito and Nya face against Tyler. Desperately trying to not hurt them, the rangers are hit with the Corruptions combined power and are knocked out of their ranger forms. Staggering to their feet Nya tells them to go get the other rangers. Kaito tells her there isn't a chance he's leaving. The rest of the team also refuse to leave. Martin says that either they die together or no one dies. Fighting the Corruptions unmorphed they try to delay the Corruptions as long as possible before finally being knocked back. Before the Corruptions can finish them off, the veteran rangers arrive and and attack the Corruptions helping up the Multiverse Rangers. Thanking them for there help, the rangers all morph and attack the Corruptions. The combined power of the rangers prove to much for the Corruptions as the veteran range's attacks effect the Corruptions more. However, Steel asks if how they were going to revert the rangers from their Corrupted form without killing them. Oliver says that if the Corruptions are defeated by a ranger with the same powers they should revert to their human form. When asked how he knew that, Oliver responds that he found data of the Corruptions in the base. Using all their finishers, the Corruptions revert to their human forms, collapsing from exhaustion.The rangers all go to help their compadres up. Tyler, Brody and Devon thank the Multiverse Rangers, however are interrupted by the shaking of the ground.
Exiting the base, they see two megazords, a dinosaur and Ninja one. Nya asked what they were, Devon says that they were corrupted versions of their megazords. Nya says that they're headed towards the city. Summoning all their zords they combine into their megazords. The fight with the Corrupted megazords dosing go well, as the corrupted megazords defeat the combined power of all five megazords. With nearly all their power gone, the rangers are expelled from their megazords, forced to watch as the corrupted megazords march onward to the city. With no other options left, Devon says that the only way to defeat them is to combine there power. When asked how, he asks Nya if she has a blank infinity vial. Taking one out she gives it to Devon. Hesitating for a moment, he holds his Morph-X key to the infinity vial, the power is transferred into it, causing him to power-down. Kaito asks what he's doing, Devon responds that they'll need all the power they can get. Oliver points out that fusing two ranger powers was dangerous and had never been attempted before. Nya takes the vial, saying that the lives of everyone depended on it. Replacing her infinity vial with Devon's, she morphs into her Beast Morpher armor. At first she collapse inn pain, electricity coarsing through the suit. However she manages to get up and gain control over the armor. Seeing this, the rest of the veteran ranger follow suit, giving them their powers. Kaito asks them if they really want to give up their powers, Tyler responding that their fight was over and it was their turn to protect the world, Brody telling them that their powers would be put to better use with them. Returning to their zords, Nya uses her Beast Morpher armor, Martin and Oliver assume their Ninja Steel armor whilst Kaito, Himari and Yua use the Dino Charge powers. Using the combined strength they manage the beat back the megazords. Using the added power of all three teams, they destroy both corrupted megazords. Before they can celebrate, a giant space ship enters the atmosphere, looming over the rangers. Before they can react, the ship fires on the base, causing it to explode in a massive gloom of flames. Just as soon as the ship arrived, it left, flying off to parts unknown. Himari asked why they shot there own base. Nya said that it was to wipe any data. Kaito asks if the Shogun and Accel Ranger got caught in the blast, to which Oliver denies, saying that there were two ships that left the atmosphere and docked with a nearby spaceship.
Back at the base, Commander Davis congratulates the rangers on reverting the Corruptions snd defeating the Corrupted megazords. He then thanks the veteran rangers for helping them and giving them there powers, saying that he couldn't imagine hoe hard that was. Tyler says that it wasn't a problem, as the Multiverse Rangers would use it protect their world. Nya thanks him, asking the Dino Charge rangers how they would get home. Hayley says that they have a device to travel through dimensions, but that it was damaged and only good for one more trip. Tyler turns to the senate rangers, saying that they were from a different dimension, asking them if they wanted to go home. They all refuse tit, Himari saying that they've got to fight Empire no matter what, saying that they should go home. Opening a portal, the Dino Charge rangers leave saying goodbye to everyone. Before leaving, Tyler quietly tells Nya to remember his advice, saying that she had good friends and that she could rely upon them. Nodding, Nya waves him goodbye as he steps into the portal. Brody and the Ninja Steel rangers thank the Multiverse Rangers for helping them escape, telling them to use their powers for good. After the Ninja Ranger leave, Devon then says that they should get back to Grid Battleforce, needing to rebuild the headquarters. Nya says that they need to warn the other rangers, saying that if the Empire had their intel on the previous rangers, they could strike at anytime and turn them into Corruptions. Ravi says that they can take care of it, saying that they have discreet ways of alerting the rangers, telling them they were going to tell them to go into hiding. Saluting the rangers, they leave, wishing them good luck fro their fight against the Dark Empire.
A few hours after the veteran rangers leave, Kaito goes to see Commander Davis at the command center. When asked what was the matter, Kaito tells him that he'll carry out his investigation. When Davis asks why the change of heart, Kaito responds that he wants to help Nya, saying that she was an amazing leader and friend, and that he had to help her. Davis offers him a file, but before Kaito takes them, he asks Davis why he was doing this. Davis responds that Nya's parents were his best friends and that he was trying too help Nya to. He them asks Davis how he knew he was a detective. Davis chuckles, saying that spending fifteen years in the G.D.A., he got good at reading people. Kaito says he'll do it under the condition they tell Nya as soon as they uncover something. Agreeing, he takes the file and walks away examining the files and taking out the black USB device, examining the cracked J emblazoned on it.
Aboard the Black Lynx, the Accel and Shogun Ranger bow before the Dark Emperor, his back turned to them, gazing out onto the stars. The Shogun Ranger apologizes for their failure, saying that they weren't prepared for the combined might of all four teams. Tearing his eyes from the window, he says that this method was supposed to be impossible to fail. Luckily, he said, he had prepared for they failure, revealing a lone figure in a black cloak. The Accel Rangers asks if he's already been corrupted, the Emperor silencing him, saying that one more failure from them would result in their replacement with a more able commander. Besides, he said, they could always be Corrupted. The Shogun Ranger says that they need the power from previous rangers to complete, but before he can finish, an orange ranger enters the room, saying that any rangers power could suffice, saying that they could contribute as well. The Dark Emperor silences them, saying that they needed to concentrate on the plan, saying that it was the only way to gather all the rangers powers. Turning towards the cloaked figure, he says he made some adjustments to his corrupted form, saying that it would dominate the rangers in combat. Lowering his cloak the figure is revealed to be Andros, his eyes shining a bright red, almost the color of blood.
