Faruk

Faruk was a former student of Master Saba & the jealous rival of Bakhtiar. Having fallen under the influence of Dark Specter, Faruk murdered his Master & went to live on the dark side. After murdering the Black Emissary Xev, Faruk took possession of his Morphin Heart & became the evil warrior Dark Talon.

He is the main antagonist of the short film "Black & White" in the animated anthology Power Rangers Legends.

Character History[]

Faruk was one of Master Saba's two students, the other being Bakhtiar. For as long as he could remember, Faruk has always looked down at Bakhtiar, often criticizing him for his incompetence & immaturity. His resentment towards Bakhtiar worsened by the fact that Master Saba favored him more.

These negative feelings were soon exploited by Dark Specter, who persuaded Faruk to kill his Master. Faruk succeeded in doing so, & soon afterwards, he went on to become a powerful foe for Dark Specter. After murdering the Black Emissary Xev, Faruk took possession of his Morphin Heart & became the evil warrior Dark Talon.

Faruk was eventually found & confronted by Bakhtiar, who had been given the White Tiger Power Coin. Bakhtiar tried to reason with Faruk, but Faruk just laughed & mocked him, telling Bakhtiar how he had always loathed him & that Master Saba was a fool for ever believing that Bakhtiar had great potential. A fight ensued, during which the White Empyreal, the "shadow" of the Black Emissary, appeared to bring about chaos & entropy.

Bakhtiar became the White Ranger & summoned the White Tigerzord to fight the White Empyreal, but Faruk summoned the Hippogriff Thunderzord to counter the White Tigerzord. However, the remaining Emissaries of the Morphin Grid showed up to aid Bakhtiar, & they summoned the Thunderzords to fight alongside the White Tigerzord. Together, they defeated the White Empyreal & restored peace to the galaxy. Of course, Bakhtiar looked up & saw Faruk fly away on the Hippogriff Thunderzord, with the latter looking down at Bakhtiar with contempt.

What has happened to Faruk since then is currently unknown.

Personality[]

Jealousy & contempt gave rise to this once loyal student of Master Saba. Short-tempered & domineering, Faruk had a tendency to be quite abusive towards Bakhtiar, often belittling him & causing him to lose his self-confidence. Faruk looked down on Bakhtiar, viewing him as a weak link in the school's chain. This only got worse due to the fact that Bakhtiar was highly favored by Master Saba. Faruk's jealousy was so high that he often tried to make matters worse for himself by ridiculing Bakhtiar whenever he had the chance. Both of these negative feelings are what led Faruk to betraying his Master.

Etymology[]

Faruk is a Turkish variation of the Arabic name Faruq, meaning "person who can tell right from wrong". This is an ironic contrast to Faruk's attitude.
