Calen Darr is an inhabitant of the time-lost planet Cronos. As Cronos exists outside of normal time-space, Calen was able to travel to all time periods. There he was able to copy the powers of every Power Ranger who ever existed and forge the energy into Spirit Ranger Keys. In the process of forging the Ranger Keys, Calen accidentally absorbed residual energies of all the Red Rangers he had copied and became the Century Ranger. Calen was able to control his powers by creating the Pirate Cell Morpher. Realizing that he could use his technology to create new Rangers, Calen forged entirely new Pirate Cell Morphers and Ranger Keys and sent them out across space and time to find worthy wielders who would become the Power Rangers Pirates
