Bombino is a bomb-themed silver body Shadon of the Shadow Empire.

Character History[]

Bombino was created by Mendulla to destroy the South Coast Region using his bombs as bowling balls & citizens as pins. Lumynox finds Mendulla in an incredibly upbeat & peppy mood & she reveals that she has created her best Shadon ever: Bombino, & she is very proud that she has added her own special artistic flair to it. Lumynox reminds her that Emperor Devroth is...less than patient with time wasted but Mendulla is confident that Lumynox is just being paranoid. Bombino first appeared on Earth in Sector W-37 shortly after Josh, David, & Austin met a mysterious woman. Bombino was first seen with a group of Rakers in a parking lot, having kidnapped eight people & dressed them up in comical bowling bin costumes before sending them all flying using a bomb as a bowling ball but is bummed when only seven go down. Bombino has his Rakers stack them all up again & gets ready to bowl again, but the Gem Rangers arrive; June mistakes him for a rubber ball monster which Bombino is angered by & formally introduces himself. They morph & do their roll call so he sends in his Rakers although he soon bowls at them which forces them all to avoid it & many more although they successfully defeat his Rakers anyway. Enraged, he bowls at the Gem Rangers again as they line up which knocks them all down & he expects the bomb to blow but it doesn't because there are only six Gem Rangers. Realizing that his main power is useless, Bombino decides to run away to fight another day, so produces a smokescreen & is gone by the time that the Gem Rangers go through it.

Bombino later returns to the downtown South Coast Region, where three Gem Rangers (bar Josh, David, & Austin who are all searching for the Energy Wish Stone) confront him & do battle. He easily shrugs off three slashes from Sean's sword & knocks aside June's until Sean football kicks him flat on the ground. He recovers & prepares to bowl again only for the same mysterious woman encountered by the three absent Gem Rangers arrives & ignores Ally, telling her to flee & orders Bombino to stand down, to which he happily obeys as Josh & David arrive although Austin is still fighting a Monstone that he accidentally uncovered. He watches as the woman introduces herself as Shadea & as the Zombie Rakers easily defeat the Gem Rangers. Shadea reveals her new plan for him; she will open a tunnel of dark energy by using Bombino's arsenal to destroy the temple that she was at before & create a direct link between the Realm of Shadows & Earth to allow a massive armada of Shadoomers to invade & conquer the planet.

Shadea & Bombino oversee the Zombie Rakers lay a massive beat-down on the Gem Rangers before she sends him in to finish them off since he can easily take down the six Gem Rangers & four Rakers with one bowl which would explosively kill them all as well. However, she smacks out his legs as she just wants him to gather dark energy to create the special bombs to use in her plan. When she tells him to forget about his bowling plans, she smacks him multiple times in the face with her whip, which creates four clones of him with the original Bombino being Bombino #2. Now the Bombino Five, she sends them off into the city to gather dark energy. Later, the Gem Rangers (now joined by Austin who has returned after obliterating the Monstone) confronted the Bombinos but all were easily defeated. Later still, the Bombinos meet Shadea at the quarry with their newly created special bombs she requested before merging back into the original. Pleased, Shadea scans the area for the perfect spots & has Bombino set them up there only for the weary Gem Rangers to arrive. Unfortunately for Bombino, Josh has used his imagination to create a new power-up for the Gem Rangers after a heart to heart talk with the temple's mentor. Shadea orders Bombino to blow them to bits & does her whip trick to recreate his clones as more Rakers arrive. However, Josh uses the new device (called the Phoenix Arrow Morpher) which gives the whole team (bar Austin) access to the Phoenix Gem Armor & Shadea orders the Bombinos to attack. Bombino #5 tries to run straight for the special bomb placement but is obliterated by an energy arrow to the chest from Ally. Although she is unable to fight Bombino #4 due to being overwhelmed by Rakers, Sean goes after him & destroys him even though he ducks behind a tree by piercing straight through the tree line with the Unstoppable Laser. He then throws the Phoenix Arrow Morpher to June, who uses it to increase her speed & knock down Bombino #3 & fires but the copy dodges, though she then fires off so many that they are impossible to dodge & he is destroyed. Josh then snatches it from her & follows Bombino #1 up a hill where he unleashes the Sparkling Pheonix attack, creating a rain of energy arrows which obliterate the Shadon clone. He then gives it to David, who confronts the original Bombino, but is smacked away by Shadea as the 100 second time limit runs out & he goes back to his default Gem Ranger form. She then orders Bombino to lay his bomb & he runs off to obey only to find himself confronted by Austin who then obliterates Bombino with the Diamond Beam Attack.

Due to having all of his dark energy utilized in Shadea's scheme, Bombino did not have a Shadoomer counterpart.

Personality[]

Bombino was an extremely violent Shadon obsessed with bowling & bombs who loved to blow away his enemies. He wasn't very smart, since he couldn't count when ten people were knocked down & when they weren't. However, he demonstrated immense loyalty to Shadea & was even able to recognize her in her disguised human form.

Sight: Bombino was able to see perfectly well despite lacking eyes completely.
Master Bowler - Bombino was a master bowler capable of taking out ten people at a time.
Explosion - When Bombino announced his name to the Gem Rangers, the ground behind him dramatically exploded.
Bowling Counter - Whenever Bombino bowled & knocked down some people, a massive counter appeared on-screen showing how many people he knocked down out of ten. This was clearly in-universe & not just for the viewer as he used it as a reference & reacted to it.
Smoke Breath: Bombino could produce smoke from his mouth.
- Smokescreen: Bombino could use the smoke he produces as cover, enabling him to escape without being followed.
Bomb Creation: Bombino & his clones were able to create special bombs out of dark energy at Shadea's request. How they did so remains unclear as they did it off-screen.
Accuracy: Bombino was able to throw his bombs with extreme precision.

Abilities[]

Strength - Single bowls from Bombino could take down both regular humans & the Gem Rangers with one hit as well as block Ally & Sean's swords with his bare hands.
Durability - Bombino was slashed four times by Sean's sword but did not get a scratch.
Hand to Hand Combat: Outside of his abilities, Bombino proved himself to be a good hand-to-hand fighter who easily overwhelmed three Gem Rangers with his bare hands.
Agility: The third Bombino clone was agile enough to avoid June's Phoenix Arrow Blast by moving his torso to the side.

Weaknesses[]

Poor Math Skills - Bombino was evidently not smart at math since he couldn't count that there were six Gem Rangers in front of him during his first encounter with them.
Bowling Explosion Limit - The downside to the 10 pin strike was that, even if he hit all of the people in a group, the ball wouldn't explode if the group had less than 10 people.

Arsenal[]

Fists: Bombino had no weapons of his own by default but was easily able to overwhelm the Gem Rangers with his bare hands.
Bomb Balls: Bombino had a set of bomb balls for combat. If he got a 10 pin strike, the ball would explode.
