Synopsis[]

Phil Bell, the original candidate for Star Battleforce Red, has abandoned Star Battleforce and ended up allying with the Arkeyans by providing funding for nuclear weapons. In response, the crew is sent to a desert planet where Bell is carrying out a number of trades, all while attempting to recruit the mysterious Dimitri, who is in possession of a Sector Key, but is not on their side, and has a history with Moose.

Plot[]

On Planet Venom in the Scorpio Sector, the mysterious hooded man is watching over an arms deal between Volstagg, the disgraced Bell, and Otis O'Neil - another one of the O'Neil Brothers. On the Destiny, Moose has a nightmare, and wakes up in the bar, holding up a line. In the line are Arthur and Megan - the latter of whom is intrigued that androids can dream, and asks Arthur if he knew it. Arthur wakes him up, and he too is puzzled about what makes Moose so unique. They then take Moose to the bridge, where Colonel Xiao and Russell have gathered some auxiliary Sector Keys for use in certain situations; Russell mentions that when they use them in training, it will be obvious what they can do. In the meantime, Colonel Xiao tells them about Planet Venom; It has low levels of Planesium, the energy that maintains each planet. the Arkeyans are sucking up Planesium from planets and when the planets run out of it, theyā€™ll explode. To make matters worse, the group learns that Bell has abandoned Star Battleforce - much to Ryan's relief, although Wild Bill and Florian have no idea who Bell even is - and has formed a pact with the Arkeyans to sell arms. To prevent the aforementioned Planesium extraction from happening, they must destroy or disable the A-Drone guarding the planet. Arthur loves that they know what they have to do so they can just do it, as Colonel Xiao sends them off.

While Phil and Volstagg are continuing to negotiate possible Arkeyan weapon deals, The seven rangers arrive on Planet Venom and are immediately greeted by Roswells, led by Otis - much to Bill's disgust. They morph and make quick work of them; after a long battle, an ominous tune coming from a harmonica suddenly plays, distracting the rangers, and Otis is suddenly defeated and swatted away by no other than the hooded figure, who unmasks himself and is immediately recognised by Moose as Dimitri Skorpirov. Dimitri, speaking in Russian, orders the team not to interfere, and if they think they can recruit him, they must think again, as he reveals that he broke into the Destiny before the first three rangers were chosen, stole a Uni-Controller undetected, and proceeded to use his own Sector Key for his own personal use. He then demonstrates his power by retracting a tail, which he uses to sting Bronzee, forcing her to de-morph. The others, mainly Megan and Ryan, are particularly shocked that he had stolen a Uni-Controller and that Colonel Xiao was not aware of it, as Dimitri morphs into Ranger Series Orange. Arthur tries to calm the situation down, stating that there are two more Rangers that should join the program, and they are not the enemies, but Dimitri has none of it, reiterating that Star Battleforce is just another thing in his way; when he is asked as to why he would steal a Uni-Controller, he refuses to answer. Moose guesses that Dimitri was the person who killed "Mr. Professor", and fights him, stating that Dimitri has made him do something that he is not capable of doing. In a fit of rage, Dimitri uses his tail to sting all but Arthur, Ryan and Moose; something within Moose snaps, and he and Dimitri duel long enough before Joi and Russell come in on the radio and order them to evacuate immediately. With that, Arthur summons his Uni-Voyager and scoops everyone up; en route, Moose is fuming, and knows he's having a bad day, lamenting over nightmares, old memories coming back to haunt him, and now, most of the team being poisoned.

As Dimitri leaves, he is approached by Volstag, who notes he is intrigued by the fact that not all rangers from Star Battleforce seem to be against His Magnificence, so Dimitri pledges his allegiance to the Arkeyans, after Volstagg reveals that they can help him achieve his personal objectives. Back on the Destiny, Joi - in the infirmary - finds Bill, Megan, Bronzee and Florian are infected with a nerve toxin - inflicted potentially by Dimitri, and says they might not have the equipment to treat them; as Arthur sees to Moose, Ryan finds out from Russell that for months, survivors of the Arkeyan invasion of Earth from Russia had been experimenting on humans with the hopes of creating a race of human-scorpion hybrids, secretly training them as ruthless vigilantes to fend off what ever they see as a threat, which makes Ryan wonder if he followed the same path as them. Arthur finds Moose in his living quarters; Moose reluctantly reveals who "Mr. Professor" is: Professor Levictus Cornwall, the scientist who created him. the professor wanted to invent weapons to fight the Arkeyans, and pitch them to the military, so he taught Moose - then known as Class M-568, how to have a human heart and have a personality of his own, which resulted in him being what he is today. The professor reminded Class M-568 to never lose his heart in battle, otherwise he will merely be a machine, but on the day of Moose defending his Cybernetic Wrestling Federation (CWF) title, Professor Cornwall was killed by Dimitri; at the time Moose had no confidence in revenge, but during his time in the CWF days - where he adopted his name, but recent events may have taught him a thing or two about payback. Arthur, who believes that there could be some good in Dimitri, suggests that, if he ever wanted to do something right, maybe he too can convince Dimitri to join rather than kill him. Moose says that's a great idea, and with renewed confidence, he decides to settle the score with Dimitri. As this happens, Russell is looking for auxillary Sector Keys that could be useful in healing the others, all while trying to locate other Sector Keys scattered across the galaxy. As he looks in the pile of keys, he still can't find one capable of healing.

As Ryan, troubled by the others' condition, is discussing with Joi and Colonel Xiao how they can counterattack, they both see Moose flying out by himself. At this sight, Colonel Xiao orders them both to bring him back, but Ryan offers to stay behind and take care of the others; as Arthur leaves, a poisoned Florian asks Ryan for some orange juice. On Planet Venom, Moose, who can translate Dimitri's words comes face to face with Dimitri, telling him that he didn't want it to come to this. They then morph and battle, while Arthur begins to make his way to Planet Venom. Dimitri asks why Moose is after him. Moose tells him about Professor Cornwall and Dimitri remembers that night well, as a client wanted him dead. Dimitri uses his tail to choke Moose and says while he will atone for his sin, he has no time to deal with Moose. He then attempts to sting Moose, but Moose is surprisingly immune to the poison, due to his cybernetic physiology. After boasting about this, he brings up Arthur's words about potential recruitment, and Arthur gets there just in time, and adds to Moose's words. Volstagg then appears, and reveals that Dimitri has pledged his allegiance to His Magnificence, as he intends to use the Rangers' power against them by claiming a Sector Key for themselves. Arthur tells Moose to fall back for now, as he could make more sense than him, and morphs, before duelling with Dimitri himself. Back on the Destiny, as Ryan is growing more and more concerned about the condition of the others - and Arthur and Moose, Colonel Xiao has Russell and Joi, still looking for the right Sector Key, make an antidote to cure the team's poison, and after an intense struggle, they manage to make enough, and gives them to Ryan so he can save the others. In the infirmary, Florian has some orange juice, but he throws it up soon after in Wild Bill's face, moments before Ryan arrives with the antidotes. He uses the antidote on Megan first, before healing the other three so they can all assist Arthur.

As the chaos rages on Venom, Volstagg instructs Otis to make his move. He interferes with Arthur and Dimitri's fight, allowing Moose to resume his duel with Dimitri while Arthur deals with Otis. As this happens, Russell finally finds a Sector Key that may come in handy - the Clone Sector Key. On a runabout, they head to Venom, where Joi bungees down from it and tosses the Sector Key to Arthur, while Russell explains over the radio what this Sector Key can do. Arthur then uses the Clone Key, which creates a duplicate Arthur; they fight Otis together to take care of Otis, who, wounded, is taken away by his other brothers. Suddenly, over the radio, Ryan informs Arthur the others have been cured, and are in their Voyagers due to the planet's A-Drone has been activated. With that, hops in his Voyager and flies off. Much to Moose's surprise, Dimitri also summons his Uni-Voyager, Scorpio Voyager 2 which appears from the ground; while Arthur helps his friends, Moose deals with Dimitri with his own voyager in a one-on-one between Uni-Voyagers. Arthur, along with Ryan, Megan, Florian and Wild Bill, form the Voyager Squad Megazord to go after Planet Venom's A-Drone, but the A-Drone shifts to battle mode. As the chaos ensues, Bill asks Florian where Bronzee is; Florian comments that he thought she was on her way with them - but as it turns out, she is back on the Destiny, still looking for the Hangar as she, like Florian, is not fully used to the station. She is helplessly asking civilians for directions to the Uni-Voyager hangar, but everyone she asks does not know here it is. Luckily, she finds the chaos on Venom being broadcast on the jumbotron on the Destiny's promenade. When Megan's voyager is targeted by the A-Drone's homing missiles, Florian begs Arthur if he could "go higher" - by that he means switching places with Megan - much to her annoyance; with Florian and Megan's voyagers how having switched places, the team now has the upper hand, they are able to deliver a Universal Strike to destroy the A-Drone for good, as Dimitri watches the display, but leaves immediately when Moose is about to deliver another attack. With Dimitri having escaped, Moose sighs, pondering in thought about who Dimitri really is, and whether he may not be that bad after all.

Back on the Destiny, Bronzee retreats to the bridge, where Colonel Xiao is relaxing, and sees that she still has no idea where certain places on the station are. Just then, the others arrive, and are left to wonder who Dimitri could be, and what his true motives are. Moose says that if he's learned something today, it's that there may be some good in Dimitri after all, to which Arthur agrees, vowing to have him join the program at all costs; Ryan and Megan beg to differ though, with the former stating that he would rather arrest him rather than recruit him, stating that he may proceed to commit a number of crimes against Star Battleforce for his own personal benefits. On Venom, Bell tells Volstagg to remain there so he can continue selling Arkeyan weapons to its people, the first in a series of sales sprees, and he'll regularly be in touch with His Magnificence about his progress. Afterwards, Volstagg returns to Xibalba, where Dimitri meets with Volstagg who is upset the Star Battleforce Rangers got away; Dimitri says that wonā€™t happen next time, and leaves. As Dimitri walks off, Volstagg wonders whether Dimitri can speak English. Meanwhile, Joi and Russell are tidying their lab on the Destiny, where they come across a pink Sector Key; Joi says it's from the Aquilla Sector, where the headquarters for Tyrell Corporation, the manufacturer of the Joi line of robotic assistants, is based, but is unable to explain how she found it. Russell figures out that this could very well be the last Sector Key Star Battleforce was looking for all along to fulfil their program, and begins to wonder whether Joi should step up to join the Ranger Series Program.
