Bakhtiar was a student of Master Saba who became the first White Ranger. He is the main protagonist of the short film "Black & White" in the animated anthology Power Rangers Legends.
Character History[]
Black & White[]
Bakhtiar was one of Master Saba's two students, the other being Faruk. He was highly favored by Saba, much to the jealousy of Faruk, who despised Bakhtiar & constantly criticized for his incompetence & immaturity. As a result of his jealousy, Faruk fell under the influence of Dark Specter, who prompted Faruk to murder his Master.
Bakhtiar returned to the dojo to find it in smoke. When he went inside, he found only Master Saba's prized sword lying among the debris. Believing his beloved Master to be dead, a grieved Bakhtiar took Master Saba's sword & went to a Masterforge, where he was greeted by the legendary Emissaries of the Morphin Grid. After relenting about the death of his Master, the Emissaries revealed Bakhtiar that Faruk was the murderer, & they also told him that Faruk murdered one of their own, Xev the Black Emissary, & took his Morphin Heart for his own.
The Emissaries sent Bakhtiar on a quest to stop Faruk before he could unleash a powerful evil across the galaxy. Bakhtiar traveled to the Temple of Power, where Ninjor gave him the White Tiger Power Coin, the first of its kind, which would enable him to become the White Ranger.
Eventually, Bakhtiar found & confronted Faruk, who had used Xev's Morphin Heart to become the evil warrior Black Talon. Bakhtiar tried to reason with Faruk, but Faruk just laughed & mocked him, telling Bakhtiar how he had always loathed him & that Master Saba was a fool for ever believing that Bakhtiar had great potential. A fight ensued, during which the White Empyreal, the "shadow" of the Black Emissary, appeared to bring about chaos & entropy.
At that moment of despair, Bakhtiar suddenly heard Master Saba's voice, & he soon discovered that his Master's spirit had been inside his sword all this time. Through the tiger-shaped hilt, Saba told Bakhtiar that he was proud of him & how much he had grown. He then told Bakhtiar how he had always known that he was destined to become a Ranger, & how he could stop the White Empyreal.
Inspired by Saba's words, Bakhtiar became the White Ranger & summoned the White Tigerzord to fight the White Empyreal. However, Faruk summoned the Hippogriff Thunderzord to counter the White Tigerzord. Fortunately, the Emissaries showed up to aid Bakhtiar, & they summoned the Thunderzords to fight alongside the White Tigerzord. Together, they defeated the White Empyreal & restored peace to the galaxy. Of course, Bakhtiar looked up & saw Faruk fly away on the Hippogriff Thunderzord, with the latter looking down at Bakhtiar with contempt.
In the aftermath, Saba & the Emissaries commended Bakhtiar for his heroism, & they reminded him of the concept of yin & yang--how there must be both good & bad in the universe. In the end, Bakhtiar was given Saba's armor as a means of protection, as well as a reminder of his Master's teachings.
Legacy[]
Many millennia later, Alpha 4 came to the Temple of Power on behalf of Zordon to ask Ninjor for the Power Coins for Zordon's team of Power Rangers. Ninjor gave him the Power Coins, along with the Emissaries' Morphin Hearts & the White Tiger Power Coin & Saba, telling him that they might come in handy later on.
After Tommy Oliver lost his Green Ranger powers, Bakhtiar's White Ranger powers were passed onto him as a means of honoring the legacy of this brave young Ranger.
Personality[]
Bakhtiar started off as unfocused & irresponsible, which would often result in Faruk being overly critical & sometimes aggressive towards him. Despite this, Bakhtiar's upbeat spirit & loyalty led to him being highly favored by his Master. When Master Saba was murdered by Faruk, Bakhtiar was devastated, & did his best to avenge his beloved Master, though it wouldn't take long to realize that Master Saba had been with him all along.
