André Johnson is the successor to Legendary Power Ranger Tommy Oliver as the second Green Ranger, the son of Legendary Power Ranger Theodore Jay "T.J." Jarvis Johnson and the former leader of the notorious Green Dragons street gang of Reefside, California. With his father leaving for Angel Grove to pursue a baseball career under the mentorship of minor league player Jake Rosetti, André remained in Reefside under the care of his mother and grandfather until their deaths during the Countdown to Destruction attack on Earth. With his family no longer around to watch over him, André wanders the streets of Reefside for shelter and safety from Astronema's forces until he befriends Devone, a young street orphan and member of the Green Dragons - a ruthless gang of thugs known for crimes such as arms dealing, drug dealing, extortion and murder.
Before becoming a Power Ranger, André proved himself as a formidable fighter and strategist for the Dragons. His tenacity and ability to assess and navigate dangerous situations often gave him the advantage in fights against rival gangs and allowed him to rise through the ranks of the Green Dragons to become their leader; simultaneously becoming one of Reefside's most prominent, and infamous, figures in the process.
After a near-death experience due to an ambush by rival gang the White Tigers, André is given the Dragon Power Coin by Ronin - a master warrior of Phaedos secretly assigned to Earth as André's guardian - in an attempt to use the coin's healing abilities to bring him back to life.
Though the Power Coin was successful in saving André from death, his injuries end up being too severe for even the powers of the Morphin Grid to provide an immediate restoration. Ronin informs André that he must keep the Power Coin in his possession until his wounds are completely healed.
Meanwhile, a returning Wizard of Deception returns to Earth in search of the Zeo Crystal on behalf of a "higher power."

Chase into Space[]
The Rangers try to fight off the Piranhatrons, but are overwhelmed by the sheer numbers and are barely able to defend themselves and protect Alpha, let alone fight back as the Piranhatrons wreck their former safe haven. Elgar enters the Chamber and sees Zordon & Dimitria's empty plasma tube. Knowing that neither Zordon nor Dimitria can return to Earth if he destroys it, Elgar picks up a hammer and throws it at the tube, smashing it to bits. He then places detonators all over the Power Chamber and leaves. Outside, Divatox waves goodbye to the Rangers as she detonates the bombs inside, destroying the Power Chamber completely. Before Divatox and her forces can finish the Rangers off, a flaming ball of light approaches Divatox and informs her that Zordon has been captured and that she is to leave immediately for the Cimmerian Planet. Fresh off of her victory against the Power Rangers, Divatox doesn't want to leave since she's just conquered Earth. The messenger then tells her that the order was directly from Dark Specter. Fearful of this name, she agrees and tells the Rangers that she'll soon be back as she and her forces leave for the Cimmerian planet.
The Rangers slowly emerge from the wreckage and regroup at which point they all demorph, losing their Turbo powers. Justin suddenly spots Alpha in the rubble as he frets over the Chamber's destruction. Carlos says they have to go to the Cimmerian Planet, but Cassie reminds him of the promise they made to Dimitria to defend the Earth. Carlos points out that Divatox has left, but Ashley adds that it was only temporary and that she would be back with no-one left to defend the Earth. T.J. agrees and says they need to stop Divatox before she returns, but Cassie asks how they're supposed to do that without assistance or powers. Just then, Alpha begins digging through the wreckage and finds the Power Decoder, which Alpha explains is crucial for their journey into space. Justin then gets an idea about how to get into space, though it is a long shot.
Justin heads to Angel Grove's NASADA base and asks the sentry to see Commander Norquist for an emergency. The sentry asks if he's expected by the commander and is denied access. Justin then follows a car that is entering the base and climbs on the roof to head for Mission Control. Justin enters the Mission Control room but is caught by two guards. He shouts loudly that he needs to speak to the commander and that he has a message from the Power Rangers. Commander Norquist, his attention piqued, speaks to Justin about what the Rangers' need and Justin says they need the space shuttle, to which two guards chuckle. Justin whispers to Commander Norquist about their situation, and Norquist suddenly exclaims "Eltar?" before asking when the Rangers need the shuttle. Justin tells him that they need it now as they head for Mission Control.

T.J. Johnson says goodbye to Justin
The waiting Rangers get the go-ahead from Justin to get to the launchpad. The Power Rangers and Alpha get inside the shuttle, but they realize that Justin hasn't joined them. T.J. calls down to Mission Control and tells Justin they're missing someone, but Justin tells them "He can't go with you, there's reasons." While Carlos and T.J. are confused, Cassie realizes that Justin wants to stay with his father on Earth. Remembering his own son André, whom he would be leaving behind, T.J. tells Justin that he has good reasons and that they'll miss him. The shuttle takes off, and Commander Norquist suddenly finds that Justin has vanished. Outside, the former Blue Ranger watches the shuttle carrying his friends launch into space and wishes them luck. Inside, the Rangers brace themselves, as they head off into the unknown on their mission to save Zordon.

André Watches the NASADA Space Shuttle
Meanwhile back in Reefside, André tells his mother that he's leaving the house to go play basketball down at the local park. As he leaves, stops on the front porch of his home as he notices the space shuttle taking off in the distance. Not knowing that his own father was aboard the NASADA spacecraft, Captivated by the brief period of peace only for a moment, André leaves for the park as the shuttle skyrockets above the clouds. While heading the park, André sees the age accelerates due to the effects of the Orb of Doom
In Space[]
From Out of Nowhere

The United Alliance of Evil have assembled
A huge gathering of evil has assembled on the Cimmerian Planet following the conquest of Eltar. Many of the Power Rangers' past enemies, including Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd and the Machine Empire, have arrived after being summoned. Divatox is also present, boasting about her recent victory over the Turbo Rangers and the destruction of the Power Chamber. She bumps into Rita, and the two get into a spat with each other, with Rita filled with fury when she hears Divatox did what she couldn't and defeated the Power Rangers. She attempts to blast Divatox with her wand, however the energy is caught and dispersed by a mysterious purple-haired girl. Divatox is told by Elgar the girl is Astronema, who is rumored to be the next Queen of Evil. Also in attendance is a mysterious hooded figure who doesn't talk to anyone.
Dark Specter, who claims to be the monarch of all evil, appears and tells the attendees that he has captured Zordon and is draining him of his strength. Once he is fully drained, the lava rising from the base of his energy tube would ultimately destroy him "extinguishing the power forever." Lord Zedd proposes a toast of Lava Juice to Dark Specter's victory, and everyone drinks except for the cloaked figure at the end of the table. Divatox notices this and everyone gets curious as to who the hooded attendee is. Astronema accuses him of being a spy, and the cloaked figure attempts to flee and a fight ensues. Goldar manages to remove the man's cloak, revealing him to be an unfamiliar Red Ranger. Havoc ensues as Dark Specter demands that the spy be captured as he has heard everything about his plans. Before he can be stopped, the Red Ranger calls on his Galaxy Glider to escape. Rita and Divatox compete over who will be sent to capture him, but Dark Specter chooses Astronema instead. She is given the Dark Fortress, a powerful space ship, and is sent off to capture the Ranger.
Meanwhile, aboard the Space Shuttle, it is revealed that Alpha 6's voice chip is damaged, causing him to speak unintelligibly, save for a few random words now and again. When the shuttle appears to be on a collision course with a massive ship, the Astro Megaship, it fires a tractor beam to pull the former Rangers in. They disembark and explore the ship, but find no one on it.
Barely escaping Astronema's foot soldiers and the Quantrons, the mysterious Red Ranger makes his way back to his ship, only to find the Rangers and Alpha 6 on board. Believing them to be enemies sent by Dark Specter, he runs from them at first, then attacks, but is interrupted by Astronema's Sphinx Ship firing on the Astro Megaship, damaging the engine. T.J. and Alpha repair the broken engine, saving it from crash landing on a nearby planet, however, they still are forced to make an emergency landing. When the Quantrons attack on the ground, the Red Ranger leaves the ship to stop them, but not before T.J. and the others join him to help fight them off.
Part 2[]
After defeating the Quantrons, the mysterious Red Ranger demorphs revealing himself to be human. The Rangers formally introduce themselves, and the Red Ranger is named Andros, a human living on a space colony known as KO-35. Ashley is clearly quite taken with him. Andros works on repairs to the ship to allow it to take off again while Carlos attempts (and fails) to restore Alpha 6's speech. Andros tells the Rangers that he is going to send them off back to Earth as he searches for Zordon alone, stating that he doesn't need help from "planetary Rangers" that don't know anything about space.
Andros repairs Alpha's voice but is unable to restore it to its old style. Alpha doesn't mind, just happy to be able to communicate again. The Rangers return to the surface to board the NASADA shuttle and return home, only to realize that Alpha has gone missing. On board the Megaship, Alpha tries to convince Andros that he can't save Zordon alone, and needs as much help as he can get. Meanwhile, Astronema attacks the former Turbo Rangers in an attempt to gain Andros' location. When the Rangers refuse to talk, she orders their destruction. Before this can happen, the Astro Megaship appears, taking out the Quantrons that held the Turbo Rangers hostage. Andros disembarks, giving each Ranger their own Astro Morpher and the group morphs into the Space Rangers, the girls retain their original colors while T.J. is now Blue and Carlos is now Black. Working together, the team takes down the remaining Quantrons.
Once back on the Astro Megaship, Andros takes off with the Sphinx Ship in hot pursuit. While Alpha fiddles with the black box he had recovered from the destroyed Power Chamber, the Sphinx Ship exchanges blows with the Astro Megaship, the latter losing the fight. Finally, Alpha deciphers the code that allows the NASADA shuttle to combine with the Astro Megaship to form the Astro Megazord, all "part of Zordon's master plan". Once the Megazord is formed, it uses its sword to slice through the Sphinx Ship destroying it in one blow.
With the crisis over, for now, the four Rangers are inducted into the Megaship's crew and prepare to search for wherever Dark Specter is keeping Zordon. Andros explains that supplies are needed to repair the Astro Megazord. Cassie suggests they head to Earth to enlist the aid of NASADA, and Andros somewhat reluctantly agrees. Seeing this change in course, Astronema gives pursuit, saying she is willing to destroy the entire planet if she has to in order to stop the Rangers from saving Zordon.
T.J.'s Identity Crisis
Down on Brokaya, Darkonda warns Ecliptor not to slip up, or else he'll tell Astronema the truth about him. Agreed to keep secrets buried, they simultaneously blast the Interstellar Scanner to bits, causing DECA to lose track of Dark Specter's ship before she can get the location's coordinates.

T.J. is struck in the head by Darkliptor
Knowing something's gone wrong, the Rangers rush for their Jump Tubes, Morph on their way down and land on a rock formation above the diabolical duo. The Rangers get ready to attack. Ecliptor & Darkonda make an uneasy alliance against the Rangers. Andros pulls out his rebuilt Spiral Saber and locks up with Ecliptor, who tells him to listen to him about something. But before he can speak, Darkonda uses his Sword to slice Ecliptor across the back. Next, he shoots a tendril from his arm into the fallen Ecliptor's back and electrocutes him. Darkonda explains that he'll take Ecliptor's powers now and then soon, Astronema's. Darkonda then forms into energy and connects with Ecliptor via the tendril, merging them together in front of the stunned Rangers' eyes into Darkliptor. The Rangers watch in horror, Darkonda being the dominant one of the amalgamated monster. The Astro Blasters do no good on him, as he ricochets them and with both swords, shoots at them. The boys jump out of the way of the oncoming energy blast, leaving it to hit the girls, who are frozen in Green Grid ice. Andros loses his cool over this, and despite T.J.'s discretion, goes at Darkliptor at full force. He gets beaten down and almost done worse, when T.J. jumps in front of him, getting slashed and a massive blow to the head. His Lightstar Hologram is shattered, and he is knocked out cold. Andros rushes to his side, as Carlos takes on Darkliptor. The double sword barrage rains upon him, and despite resistance long enough to tell Andros to take T.J. and get back to the Megaship, he too ends up frozen just like the girls. Andros heeds his words, lifting T.J. over his shoulders and hanging ten on his Galaxy Glider back to the Astro Megaship.

T.J. in the infirmary with Andros
Soon, T.J. is recovering in the infirmary with Andros watching over him. T.J. then wakes up suddenly, obviously no major physical harm. Everything Andros says to him is met by confusion and questions. It seems the blow to the head has given him amnesia. He doesn't even remember where he is, who he is, nor does he remember that he has a son. TJ's memory loss is extensive, and when he hears D.E.C.A. speaking, he makes a confused break for it out of the infirmary.
T.J. wanders around until he reaches the bridge. Still dazed and confused about his memories and basically his identity, not even Alpha 6 and Andros can help him remember. Darkliptor sends a message to the Megaship: come out and fight, or the trio of Iced Rangers get wasted. Andros keeps trying to get T.J. to remember his status as a Power Ranger by morphing in front of him. Still, it rings no bells. Andros teleports out to Brokaya alone, leaving T.J. to figure out who he is alone.
Andros takes on Darkliptor, using his Battlizer fist power punch. It gets blocked by Darkliptor, so the battle heats up, Spiral Saber to Dual Swords. Andros is doing poorly in this fight, proving the creature's line about not having T.J. to protect him this time.

T.J. in the infirmary with Andros
Back on the SimuDeck, T.J. stumbles upon the basketball from earlier. Memories of his friends and their game back into his mind. He searches his locker, finding a picture of the Ranger teens together, which inspires him to press 0 in his Astro Morpher, teleporting him to Brokaya. Upon leaving the Astro Megaship, a picture of he and his son André falls out of his locker onto the floor of the deck, and into a ventilation.

T.J. strikes his head on a rock
He witnesses the ongoing battle between Andros & Darkliptor from a distance. T.J. then gets the urge to Morph into Blue Ranger, mimicking what Andros did earlier, startling himself to find what he said to be true. While T.J.'s in awe of his suit, Darkliptor spots him and attacks. T.J.'s unable to fight due to his lack of memory and gets tossed all over. Just as Darkliptor goes for the deathstroke, Andros jumps in the way of the blast attack, stunning both him and T.J., but doing no harm. The explosion seems to knock T.J.'s head onto a rock, knocking some sense back in him, as more flashbacks of the basketball game fill his head, until he finally remembers it all. His Lightstar helmet's Icon lights up, as he leaps into a jump kick just in time to punt Darkliptor away from Andros. The two Ranger friends are reunited completely, T.J. reminding him of their play from earlier. T.J. runs at Darkliptor, holding his Astro Axe and the Spiral Saber. He tosses them into the air above Darkliptor, causing him to look up while T.J. fires his Astro Blaster, catching the evil mongrel off guard and he drops his swords. Andros getting a boost up from T.J., just like they did in the Basketball game, flies up and grabs the two weapons and comes down on Darkliptor like the thunder. This causes the merged monster to split back into two beings, and free the frozen Rangers. Darkonda is astonished on how he could be beaten, as Ecliptor lies there stunned and smoking from his injuries.
Astronema fires the Satellasers at them, just after they merge back together to create Darkliptor once more. Now large, the two-timed mutant is a force only two times the Megazord can handle. So, after the Rangers are reunited and ready, the Astro Delta Megazord is formed. Right into battle, Darkliptor starts going medieval on it , double slashing it with his swords. T.J. gets some payback by delivering a powerful punch to the ugly Darkliptor's head. The Gyro Blasters fire at the merged monster, and the Flying Power Punch is about to finish him off, when Darkonda unmerges, using Ecliptor as a shield. The blast still hits the both of them enough to shrink them both back down to normal. Ecliptor is really tore up, falling on the ground, smoking and seriously hurt. Darkonda vows vengeance on the Rangers, and despite wanting to leave him to die, telewarps the trashed body of Ecliptor away with him.
On the Astro Megaship, the Rangers attempt to fix the Interstellar Scanner, but it's completely beyond repair, leaving their efforts to find Zordon in vain once again. Ashley & Carlos come by with the Basketball, ready to finish their game, T.J. appears not to remember the game, or know what Basketball is. Ashley & Carlos plan to use his partial amnesia to their advantage to win. Once they walk off, T.J. spins the ball on his fingers, having played dumb, ready to play.
Five of a Kind
With his powers still draining, Dark Specter tells Astronema that he believes the source of his power drain is coming from Earth and orders her to destroy it when she has the chance, still unaware that the Psycho Rangers are behind his power drain.
On the Astro Megaship, the Rangers know that even with Psycho Pink destroyed, they still have four Psycho Rangers to deal with. After Ashley complains how Psycho Yellow bested her in their previous fight, T.J. has an epiphany; as the Psychos read their minds during their first encounter they learn each of their respective counterpart's fighting styles. Since then, the Psycho Rangers have been strong only when fighting against their own colors, so T.J. suggests that they mix up and each fight a different Psycho Ranger during their next meeting. Suddenly, Alpha 6 informs the Rangers that the Psycho Rangers are at the plaza waiting for them.

T.J. is brutally beaten by the Blue Psycho Ranger
The morphed Rangers arrive to fight against the Psycho Rangers, only this time, they follow T.J.’s plan and fight a different color. Andros and Ashley swap their Psycho counterparts, with Cassie joining Ashley, while T.J. and Carlos swap their respective ones. At first, the plan is working as the Rangers are gaining the upper hand, but Psycho Blue soon realizes their plan and knocks out Carlos before going after T.J.. The rest of the Psycho Rangers manage to break away from their opponents and start fighting their own counterparts too, but Zhane arrives to help his friends. Psycho Blue brutally beats on T.J., forcing the Blue Ranger onto the ground, but before he goes for the killing blow, Zhane protects T.J. with the Super Silverizer. However, Psycho Blue just knocks Zhane out of the way and refocuses his attention on T.J. Just then, Dark Specter tells Astronema that his powers are being drained right now, forcing her to order Ecliptor and the Quantrons to pull the Psycho Rangers back to the Dark Fortress, just as T.J. passes out from his wounds.

T.J. in the infirmary with the other Space Rangers
T.J. wakes up in the Megaship’s infirmary and is dismayed that the plan failed. However, the other Rangers reassure him that they will figure out a new plan, and suggests that he rest.
On the Dark Fortress, Psycho Blue is furious that Astronema pulled him away just when he had the chance to destroy T.J., while Psycho Red wonders if they are just toys for her amusement. Overhearing this, Ecliptor begins to worry that the Psycho Rangers will go after the Power Rangers by themselves, but Astronema doesn't care just as long as they burn more of Dark Specter’s energy.

T.J. studying footage of the Psycho Rangers
Back on the Megaship, Cassie comes to T.J. with food, only to see that he's not in bed. She finds him at the computer reviewing the fight footage, with the two wondering if the Psycho Rangers have a weakness they can exploit. Suddenly, the footage glitches out and goes monochrome, where all the colors are the same. That gives T.J. an idea as he races to the bridge with a can of blue spray paint and he sprays the Ranger models in blue, telling the Rangers that this will be their new plan.
The Psycho Rangers attack a power plant as T.J. arrives, and soon afterwards, four other Blue Rangers arrive. This causes confusion among the Psycho Rangers, but Psycho Blue is more than eager to destroy them all as he charges at them. Psycho Red and Black go in to find their counterparts among the Blue Rangers, while Psycho Yellow opts to leave, vowing to go after Ashley once the male Psychos are through. As Psycho Blue grows more confused by the minute, lightning strikes as a new figure arrives to the battlefield. To everybody’s shock, a brand-new Psycho Ranger arrives, calling himself Psycho Silver. This new Psycho Ranger declares that the Power Rangers are his, and starts beating all five of them. Psycho Red and Black refuse to see Psycho Silver destroy their counterparts and go to confront him, but Psycho Blue attacks his teammates from behind, declaring that he will handle this mess on his own. Psycho Red and Black begrudgingly leave as Psycho Blue attacks Psycho Sliver and goes after who he thinks is T.J.. Suddenly, Psycho Silver helps the real T.J. out with an attack as the other Rangers change back to their original colors, and Zhane reveals himself as Psycho Silver. Zhane morphs into the Silver Ranger, and he and T.J. blast at Psycho Blue before striking him down with an Astro Axe and Super Silverizer combo.
However, Astronema declares that Psycho Blue's not finished yet as she orders Ecliptor to fire the Sattelasers. Psycho Blue grows into his monster form, and the Rangers summon the Mega Voyager and Mega Winger to deal with him. Psycho Blue unleashes a blizzard against the Rangers and even freezes the Mega Voyager. As Zhane fights against Psycho Blue, T.J. tells Andros to adjust the thermal heater. It unfreezes the Mega Voyager, and they direct the heat into their Mega Lasers to weaken Psycho Blue. Then, Zhane gives them the Mega Wing to form the Winged Mega Voyager, and they destroy Psycho Blue with the Mega V3 Missile.
On the Dark Fortress, Ecliptor remarks that they now have three Psycho Rangers left, and is worried what will happen if they lose another one. However, Astronema already has that concern in her mind as the three Psycho Rangers barge in demanding answers. Astronema threatens them to submissions and orders them to listen to her plan unless they want to suffer the same fate as Psycho Pink and Blue.
On the Megaship, the Rangers begin prepping for business as the fight against the Psycho Rangers is nearing its end, and Andros and T.J. know that the three remaining Psycho Rangers will give them more trouble than before.
Countdown to Destruction
Part 1[]
Dark Specter reveals to Astronema that the time has finally come for the United Alliance of Evil to band together and conquer the universe. Astronema agrees and, after giving her Quantrons an encouraging speech about Evil winning this upcoming epic war, they depart in their Velocifighters, half heading for Earth, and the other half for the KO-35 rebels. At the same time, King Mondo and Queen Machina receive Dark Specter's orders. Mondo tells the Machine Empire to prepare for the biggest battle the universe has ever seen. Divatox has already begun to attack the planet Gratha and brags that she'll show Astronema evil. Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa initially argue with Astronema over her plan, but they agree to follow her orders when they learn that Dark Specter has put her in charge.
Astronema mocks the imprisoned Zordon, whose plasma tube has been filing up with energy draining lava and is now aboard the Dark Fortress. Zordon tries to convince her to stop the attack, but Astronema ignores him.
Scenes of battles are shown from various planets, and the United Alliance of Evil is clearly winning:
- On Gratha, the Aquitan Rangers are beaten into submission by Divatox's army.
- On a planet in the Vica Galaxy, Trey is overwhelmed by Rita and Zedd's forces as Goldar fires a beam at him from his sword.
- On the Phantom Ranger's Homeworld, the Phantom and the Blue Senturion are outnumbered by the Machine Empire and General Havoc's army as they're shot at by several Quadrafighters and monsters then swarm all over them.
- More Quadrafighters and Cogs land and assault the KO-35 rebels.
Zhane leaves the rebels in order to get help from the other Space Rangers on Earth. He is attacked by Velocifighters during his journey, but is rescued by the core Space Rangers aboard the Astro Megaship.
Zhane informs the Rangers of the attack on the rebels, but learns that this is only part of an all-out invasion of the universe. Carlos then informs them that over a thousand Velocifighters are heading towards Earth and the Rangers immediately set a course for the planet.
The Citizens of Angel Grove have what appears to be a normal day until Velocifighters attack, blasting the city building by building. A myriad of Quantrons and Piranhatrons land and begin capturing civilians. The Astro Megaship arrives in Earth's air-space, and while Zhane pilots it and engages the Velocifighters in the air, the other Rangers morph onto their Galaxy Gliders and travel through the planet's atmosphere to Angel Grove. Initially, the fight goes in their favor, but then, Darkonda joins the fight and attacks Ashley. Andros saves her by activating his Red Battlized Ranger mode, but is shot down by Ecliptor. Then Ecliptor and Darkonda combine their energies and blast Andros and Ashley, causing them to demorph simultaneously.
The other Rangers are doing just as badly. Zhane boards his personal Zord, the Mega Winger, but it gets badly damaged by an onslaught of Velocifighters and crashes into a building. Carlos, T.J. and Cassie are also forced to de-morph and go into hiding as Quantrons and Piranhatrons round up the citizens as prisoners.
Back on the Dark Fortress, Ecliptor shows Astronema two newly-designed Super Torpedo prototypes, which, when perfected, can destroy an entire planet. Although the prototypes are intended to be used on Earth, Darkonda, who's on his last life, realizes that something the size of a planet can also be destroyed by the Super Torpedoes. Knowing this is his chance to take charge, he hijacks the Velocifighter with the Super Torpedoes attached. He fires one torpedo and scores a direct hit on Dark Specter, who slowly begins to disintegrate. As Dark Specter disappears from view, Darkonda attempts to destroy the Dark Fortress with the other torpedo in order to get rid of Astronema and Ecliptor. However Dark Specter hasn't yet been finished, and blocks the torpedo and roars "Traitor!" before swallowing the Velocifighter with Darkonda on board. Darkonda's last life is wasted, and Dark Specter explodes, showering pieces of debris on the Earth below.
A holographic image of Ecliptor appears in the sky of all of the conquered planets, revealing that, in the wake of Dark Specter's death, Astronema has assumed power as the leader of the UAE to Divatox and Andros' horror. On the Dark Fortress, Zordon's energy is restored after Dark Specter's destruction. He pleads with Astronema to end the onslaught on the universe, but her programming prevents her from acting on his words. Astronema then declares to Zordon, "I'm not just evil; I'm the Queen of Evil!" and orders Ecliptor to land the Dark Fortress on Earth.
Part 2[]
The Dark Fortress enters Earth's atmosphere and places itself over Angel Grove. Astronema and Ecliptor teleport down on top of a high-rise building, where Astronema addresses the crowd of captive humans. She announces that the rest of the universe has surrendered and that the Power Rangers have failed to save them. She goes on to say that the Rangers are somewhere down there hiding from her, which she finds completely unacceptable. She demands that the Rangers be brought to her by tomorrow morning, or she'll destroy the entire planet. Having issued her threat, Astronema teleports back to the Dark Fortress.
That night on Earth, the citizens of Angel Grove discuss the situation. When a Woman and an old Man suggest that the Power Rangers have abandoned them, Bulk comes to the Rangers' defense. Meanwhile, the demorphed Rangers--including Zhane, who reveals that the Mega Winger has been destroyed and that the KO-35 rebels have surrendered--try to formulate battle plans. Andros sneaks away, intending to confront his sister and get through to her. The other Rangers attempt to convince him that Karone is gone for good, and Ashley tries to persuade him to stay, but Andros insists he has to do this. He activates his Battlizer mode and flies away towards the Dark Fortress.
In the morning, Astronema berates the Rangers as cowards, and demands that the Rangers turn themselves over. Just as they are about to do so and as Astronema calls for Earth's Destruction, Bulk calls out to wait and steps forward, claiming to be a Power Ranger ("I am the Blue Ranger!"). Skull follows suit ("I am the Black Ranger!"), as does Professor Phenomenus ("I am the Red Ranger!"), Adelle Ferguson ("You can call me the Pink Ranger!"), the old Man ("And I'm the Silver Ranger!") and the Woman ("I'm the Yellow Ranger!") then the rest of Angel Grove declares themselves to be Rangers. The real Rangers watch this and are both shocked and impressed that the citizens are standing up for them. Astronema and Ecliptor, however, are infuriated by this act of defiance, so they decide to kill everyone and begin firing on them, but then the real Rangers reveal themselves, morph, perform their roll call of colors (with Zhane telling Astronema that she's gone too far), and battle the Quantrons, Piranhatrons and Elgar. Realizing things are getting out of hand, Astronema and Ecliptor teleport back to the Dark Fortress. Bulk and Skull rally the citizens and they join the battle.
Zordon is sacrificed to save the universe.
Meanwhile, on the Dark Fortress, Andros creates a diversion and locks Ecliptor out of the control room. Searching for his sister inside, he instead discovers Zordon. Zordon tells him that to defeat the forces of Evil, Andros must shatter his energy tube and destroy him. Andros initially refuses, but Zordon convinces him there's no other way to save the universe. Andros raises his Spiral Saber and prepares to strike the final blow, but hesitates, unwilling to kill his mentor. Just then Astronema arrives and attacks Andros. He refuses to fight her and tries to get her to remember that they're brother and sister. Astronema, however, doesn't listen, and, due to the re-programming she got, attacks him relentlessly. She even throws him through a mesh wall and prepares to finish him off with her Wrath Staff, saying, "Goodbye, brother." At the last moment, Andros grabs his Spiral Saber and blocks the incoming attack. The energy bolt ricochets off of the blade and hits Astronema, killing her.
Andros is horrified, fearing that his sister is gone forever. Just then Ecliptor bursts in. Devastated that the Princess whom he considered a daughter is dead, he attacks Andros. The two battle furiously, until Zordon reminds Andros that he has to destroy the energy tube; telling Andros that it's his duty as a Power Ranger to save the universe, no matter the cost. After striking Ecliptor down for the count, Andros breaks away from the fight and does so, sending a golden wave of good energy across the universe which purifies Rita, Zedd and Divatox, and wipes out all the other invading Evil villains.
On Earth, everyone is happy except for Ashley, who suspects that Andros didn't make it. Just then, the Dark Fortress lands nearby and Andros emerges with a lifeless Astronema in his arms. He lays her down and starts to cry, when suddenly Astronema returns to life and reverts into Karone. She wakes up with no memory of her days as the reprogrammed Astronema, and Andros hugs her.
Some time later, the Earth Rangers help the inhabitants of KO-35 rebuild their world and are about to board the Megaship, leaving for Earth. However, Andros, Zhane, and Karone plan to stay on KO-35, after Ashley tries unsuccessfully to persuade Andros to come with them.
