Amelia Jones is the daughter of Tarrick and Santaura, the older sister of Poppy, the adopted granddaughter of Ed Jones, the girlfriend of Ollie Akana, and a journalist at BuzzBlast who becomes the Cosmic Fury Red Ranger, the Red Ranger and leader of the Cosmic Fury Rangers.

History[]

Early Life[]

Amelia was born to Tarrick and Santaura, two refugees from Rafkon; but whether she was born on Rafkon or Earth is not known as she was less than a year old when she and her parents lived in the Area 62 compound. Her parents were test subjects until a fiery accident decimated the compound, during which a janitor named Ed Jones aided the couple by rescuing their daughter from the base before it exploded. Since then, Ed adopted the infant Amelia as her grandfather and promised to make sure she'd be safe, which was difficult as Amelia always strived to do dangerous things. The mysterious fate of her parents fueled Amelia's interest in the paranormal as she never stopped wondering about what happened to them.

Becoming a Ranger[]

When Amelia was older, she started working for BuzzBlast who pleaded with her editor to report on Dinohenge and eventually got permission to run the story. Whilst vlogging, she accidentally met Ollie when she shot and electrocuted him with her Spook Snare and met his mother, who detected something underneath the Dinohenge until they were all kicked off-site by Warden Garcia. However, whilst they were packing up the gear, there was an earthquake, and they hid behind a tree. They witnessed the mysterious Void Knight break into a mysterious underground base and followed him to find a strange futuristic underground facility, where he confronted a Solonsaurus-like being named Solon and a strange Gold Ranger. After Void Knight threatened Solon, Ollie intervened with a Chromafury Saber that he got off the wall and Amelia shot him with her Spook Snare.

However, when Solon tried to give them the Hengemen Key, Void Knight caught it and used it to turn them into his foot soldiers. Amelia and Ollie were overwhelmed and cornered until the Sabers equipped them with Dino Fury Morphers. Solon equipped them with their Dino Fury Keys and they used them to transform. Together with the help of the newly reawakened Zayto, they defeated the Hengemen and forced the Void Knight to flee. Zayto then revealed the history of the Dino Fury Rangers and both Amelia and Ollie agreed to become permanent Power Rangers. Destination Dinohenge

Arrival of Void Queen[]

Following the supposed defeat of Void King and Jane going off on a video tour of the world with J-Borg, Amelia was left in charge of BuzzBlast. After the arrival of Bitscreem, a Sporix Beast that tried to steal their keys, the team soon realized that Void Knight survived and was still giving order from the shadows. Unfortunately, her work at BuzzBlast made her distracted, allowing the Sporix to steal the Void Saber the Rangers aquired from Void Knight after his defeat. This made Amelia step down as editor-in-chief of BuzzBlast. Numero Uno She later assisted Ollie in repairing Solon and believed that her neighbor put a curse on her which caused a sudden shoulder pain. The Rangers later discovered that Amelia's shoulder was injured during a fight with Occulo which was erased from their memories by Slyther. Missing Pieces

Following the arrival of Drake Floyd, Ollie's old professor, to Pine Ridge for an interview with Amelia at BuzzBlast, Ollie started to realize that his know it all attitude wasn't welcomed by most people. When the Sporix Squashblight used a venom that turned all the people living at Pine Ridge into trees, Amelia helped Ollie create a cure while at the same time making him realize that he needed to be more respectful about other people's beliefs by being less smug. The Rangers managed to defeat Squashblight after getting unexpected help from Void Knight. Following the battle, Ollie would later apologize to Amelia for belittling her beliefs in the past, which she quickly accepts and the two share a hug. New Leaf After Void Knight revealed to them that her wife Santaura became Void Queen and was going on a rampage to destroy planet Earth, Zayto refused to believe that the warrior had a change of heart after everything that happened between them. Amelia and the rest of the Rangers were later trapped inside Snageye, but the team was rescued by Void Knight, who revealed that his name was Tarrick before being forcibly taken back to their base by Void Queen. Romance with Ollie[]

Amelia and the rest of her team would also have to deal with Lothorn, a villain that broke out of Grid Battleforce and was sent to attack the Dino Fury Rangers. After the Rangers managed to destroy the demon, they found out that the person responsible for Lothorn's attack was none other than the recently resurrected Lord Zedd, who created the prison break at Grid Battleforce to recruit Scrozzle to his cause. Amelia and Ollie become a couple.

Around this time, Amelia started to develop romantic feelings for Ollie, unaware that he also had feelings for her. On a Valentine's Day, a miscommunication between the two led Amelia to believe that Ollie liked some girl named Stella, which upset her. She later learns the truth after J-Borg gives her the Valentine's Day card that Ollie had planned to give her and tries to tell Ollie about it when she finds him at the Command Center, unaware that he has been brainwashed by Lord Zedd's minion Sizzurai into downloading the Rafkon message. After Ollie was freed from Zedd's control, the two confess their feelings for each other, and become a couple. Love Hate

The Truth[]

When the Rafkonians arrived, intending to colonise Earth, they make a temporary truce to fight against the Sporix. When Pop Pop was injured defending Orria, Amelia took off her helmet, revealing her identity to him before taking him back to base, where he tells her the truth about her parents, and soon antennae appear on her, making her realize she is also a Rafkonian.The Invasion

With her newfound ability, she managed to revert Void King, her real father, back to normal and gave him a hug before he would transfer the cocoon to the desert, where they would fight Void Queen. During the battle, Amelia repeatedly attempted to tell the Queen that she was her daughter, but she refused to believe and listen to her. After Zayto sacrificed himself attempting to defeat the Nemesis Beats, Amelia managed to link her mind with Void Queen, reverting her back to normal. 6 months after the battle, Tarrick and Santaura prepare a nursery for Amelia's expectant sister with Amelia reading her unborn sister's mind on the color of her crib. In the battle on Zordnia, when Ollie saw Billy Cranston, Amelia joked that she is getting jealous before they meet up with Mick again. Zedd then had a monster named Doodrip poison them to brainwash them, but it only worked on Ollie. The sight of her boyfriend unwillingly working for him again and sending Zayto through a cosmic portal devastated her. When Scrozzle absorbed the Morphin Masters into a machine, Master Red gave his staff to Javi, who, upon receiving a vision, leads them to an altar that can unlock new Zords. During the heated battle between the Rangers and the corrupted Ollie, Javi inserted the staff into the altar, activating the Zords but at the cost of his right arm. After incapacitating Ollie and bringing him back to base, Amelia has Solon stop an argument between Izzy, Aiyon, Mick, Pop-Pop, and Tarrick to discuss their plan properly. Lightning Strikes

Her devotion to rescuing Ollie, finding Zayto, and defeating Zedd led to her becoming the Red Cosmic Ranger. Off Grid

Liberating Earth[]

With their base rebuilt and Fern becoming the Orange Cosmic Ranger, the Rangers return to Earth and attempt to enter once Tarrick's spy, Heckyl, would destroy the shield, but the plan backfired when Heckyl was overpowered, leaving Amelia and the others thrown into Zedd's prison, except for Zayto and Aiyon. Sometime later, Aiyon, Pop-Pop and Tarrick were able to free them with all the other captured citizens before the Rangers, Billy, and Heckyl stayed to hold back the Zentinels. Operation Seasoning

A Big Sister[]

With Zedd defeated and exiled to Nibyro, Amelia, the Rangers, and their allies attend Javi's concert, where he sings a song based on Zordon's phrase, 'May the power protect you.' During that time, Amelia got a message from her father, saying her sister was born prematurely and he and her mother have named her Poppy after Pop-Pop. While showing Aiyon, Billy, and Mick the photo of Poppy, Amelia overhears Billy and Mick talk about Zordon possibly being a ghost, and wishes to join in. She later storms the stage with the other Rangers and their families. The End

Personality[]

Amelia is a sweet and kind, avid paranormal truther who dismisses all evidence to the contrary as bunk since it is impossible to prove or disprove of her parents' existence. She is, however, not ignorant and will do what's right whenever she needs to. Because of this, she would tend to butt heads with the more logical Ollie, though the two eventually develop romantic feelings for each other, as she is smitten with him and vice versa. It is apparent throughout the series that Amelia is the heart of the team, being able to relate with all of the Rangers, especially Ollie. This is mainly why their relationship is so lovable and cute. Even when he was being a jerk to her, she never gave up on him and that made Ollie see things in a different light. She tends to be very enthusiastic and bubbly and is always willing to give people the benefit of doubt. Even though she "lost" her parents when she was a baby, thanks to Pop-Pop, she's been able to stay a warm, friendly person who always puts others before herself.

Humorously, Amelia does not enjoy spoilers and tends to stay away from them, as seen in the Fusion Ultrazord's debut and during another episode.

  • Rafkonian Physiology: As a Rafkonian, she is able to utilize the following:
    • Telepathy: Amelia can read minds by making physical contact. She is also able to use this ability for the following further powers:
      • Memory Reading: With her telepathy, Amelia can read other people's memories.
      • Memory Projection: Amelia can show others her own memories using her telepathy.
      • Memory Transferal: Amelia can use memories shared in common with others to restore a target's own memory, as shown with Santaura.
      • Telepathic Communication: Amelia can communicate with others telepathically, as seen when she was talking with Pop-Pop in "The Truth".
      • Mind Melding: Amelia's telepathy also allows her to temporarily join her mind with sentient beings.
    • Retractable Antennae: Amelia manifested these when she learned the truth of her origins. She can retract her antennae to blend in with the humans of Earth, and extend them when she needs to use her psionic abilities.

  • Martial Arts Experience: Amelia has three years of karate experience prior to becoming a Ranger.
  • Swordsmanship: Amelia quickly became skilled with using a sword as soon as she and Ollie became Rangers. This is shown when she uses the Chromafury Saber to battle the Hengemen.

Portrayal[]

  • Amelia is portrayed by Hunter Deno. While Zayto was switched to Amelia's body, she was voiced by Russell Curry.
    • Originally, Amelia was planned to be blonde. For that, Hunter Deno had her hair dyed but at the end, the production crew decided to keep Deno’s natural hair color.
  • As the Cosmic Fury Red Ranger, her suit actor is Momoka Takasaki.

Etymology[]

  • The given name Amelia has a double root in German Amal ("work") and Latin aemulus ("rival").
  • Jones is a common English family name of Welsh origin, meaning "son of John" (compare Johnson).

  • Amelia is the first Power Ranger to be a journalist.
  • She is the first alien woman since Delphine to lead her team.
  • Amelia is the only Cosmic Fury Ranger to appear in every single episode of Cosmic Fury.
  • Although there were several female Red Rangers in the franchise before her, Cosmic Fury marks Amelia as the first main female Red Ranger in the TV series.
    • Having Ankylosaurus motif in her Cosmic Fury suit, this makes her the first Red Ranger with dinosaur-based powers to not be based off a Tyrannosaurus.
