Advertising, The New Galactic Art is the seventeenth episode of Power Rangers Universe. It features the debut of the Sail Sector Key.
Synopsis[]
Megan is tasked with helping her father launch an advertising campaign recruiting jobs for an under-construction Star Battleforce hub on a recently-reclaimed planet. When a commandant conducts a forgery operation with the intent of using fraudulent billboard adverts to poison the planet's inhabitants, Megan's time-keeping skills are put to the test.
Plot[]
Toxstatin, who has been promoted a general in training by His Magnificence, is deployed to the sea planet of Dorset, where intel obtained by Arkeyan Intelligence shows that an outreach centre for Star Battleforce is under construction there, and jobs are being advertised across the planet. On the bridge of the Destiny, Russell is opening up about his recent suspension from field duties to Arthur, Megan, Wild Bill and Ryan, as Arthur asks him if he even expected to last long as a ranger. Russell does say that he did consider himself vulnerable and very inexperienced in combat at the time, but he claims he'll treat his suspension as an opportunity to think about what he really aspires to be in the future. Arthur reckons that he may be promoted to First Officer - which is Joi's post, but Ryan and Megan are curious in particular about what Russell's future holds for him, especially since he's just a kid. At this moment, Colonel Xiao and Joi arrive on the bridge, and brief them on the EMP device that Bronzee found during the extraction mission at the Grand Deluxo Hotel, and how it could be paramount in major offensives. For now, Xiao has further news for the team: the Sail Sector Key, another Sector Key required to activate the Prometheus, has been found on Planet Dorset, while the Keel Sector Key has been located in another Universal Sector. The first Sector Key they'll be going for is the Sail Sector Key on Dorset, and the Ranger Lottery chooses Arthur, Megan, Ryan, Florian and Joi - although Florian and Bronzee arrive late on the bridge after further drinking games with Levi Floods, as the former realises he's been chosen. Megan is given a special mission in particular: assist her father, General Sawyer in advertising jobs to Dorset's residents for a new Star Battleforce Outreach Centre on the planet. She has had a very difficult relationship with her father in recent months, mainly over being conflicted over family loyalties and her job, which has been made harder as a result of joining the Ranger series program.
Upon arriving on Dorset, Arthur and Florian attempt to raise Megan's spirits to make her feel some sense of enjoyment in working with her father. They meet General Sawyer, who is overseeing the mass billboard disposal on the planet, which is the primary focus of the outreach centre's marketing; the construction site for the centre is in the very heart of the water planet. Sunken Gear, the commandant responsible for the planet, has taken notice of the billboards, and decides to make his move. He explains his intention to turn Star Battleforce's advertising strategies against them, before summoning a horde of Roswells to attack. The five rangers morph and take on the Roswells, while Sunken is distracted by Toxstatin who discusses the trap to lure the rangers in with the planet's advertising; Sunken devises this as a con, and retreats with him to privately execute it, leaving the Roswells to continue attacking. After the surviving Roswells retreat, the rangers demorph and Megan is drafted off by her father, who wants her to assist him in promoting the outreach centre, and even disallows Megan's friends from joining her, much to her evident frustration. As Arthur comments that he never new Megan's father was such a "bossy jerk", Ryan is in charge of the others, and suggest they keep an eye out for Toxtstatin - and to some extent, the commandant, although Joi asks him whether or not Dimitri and Moose may be around there looking for him. Ryan claims that they may be searching in a different Universal Sector, as Arthur wonders how Moose and Dimitri are doing in their private mission, since they haven't heard from either of them in days. Florian claims that they may have found somewhere to party - which Arthur guesses is Saint Denis, but retorts that Dimitri is a born fighter, so he would never throw a party, even if he had no choice.
Across the island, Megan is with General Sawyer as he observes the billboarding process across the planet. As they do so have an uneasy conversation regarding their lack of communication - all in part due to her father's methods of doing things. When General Sawyer asks her daughter why she joined the program, she explains that it was because she had very little appreciation from him while serving as an officer, and became more and more desperate to earn his approval, and in doing so, made new friends in Arthur, Moose and Wild Bill. General Sawyer is glad he daughter used this time to find more purpose in her life socially, going beyond her childhood friendship with Ryan. They then get to work, having reconciled; to this point, Megan helps her father place a billboard up, instantly earning his approval. As this happens, the others find the small village where the villagers seem to be working on their offering to their ocean god saviour - which Arthur never knew. Ryan, using some binoculars, sees the Deck Sector Key on an altar in the village, where more advertising work is being done; Florian attempts to get a view, and ends up falling off the cliff and into a market stall, and attempts to pillage the maizes for sale. Elsewhere, His Magnificence contacts Toxstatin to tell him heās sending a A-Drone fleet to Earth to suck up the Planesium and destroy it - and thus fully reclaiming the planet. Toxstatin senses His Magnificence seemed worried and he believes that must mean Earth has some hidden secrets. Octiqua arrives and offers to be Toxstatinās subordinate so she can avenge Cereberos. Toxstatin agrees as long as she tells him everything she knows about His Magnificence.
As this happens, Sunken is observing some of the Star Battleforce-created billboards - on Toxstatin's orders. as part of his con scheme, he cuts out one billboard, and replaces it with a metal billboard with gas vents, with it saying "Roswells for Food, Moonbillies for Wasting". With this, he intends to use those "fake" billboards to release a nerve gas on the planet's population. Megan is continuing to help with the observations along with her Father, and they both notice something weird with two billboards, with officers thinking they were vandalised. The second "vandalised" billboard says "Any Arkeyan Moles on the Destiny?", which prompts General Sawyer to investigate the situation further. The others are continuing to scope out the Sail Sector Key when Megan calls in to ask whether they have seen any changes with the billboards on the planet. Joi spots one that says "Arthur Morgan is a Genius!", which elates Arthur himself, who thinks he's getting more recognition as he thinks. As they continue to observe. Megan is shocked to see the billboard spray pellets of nerve toxin at the population, as do many others across the island. Sunken, who is resting on the planet's beach when he hears this, sees that Star Battleforce has found out about his "big con". Megan sees him attacking the townspeople, and after telling her father to regroup with his convoy, morphs, and takes the commandant on herself. As she does, Russell gets through to her, and figures out that she found out about the rigged billboards. Seeing that it is 15 minutes before the nerve agent is sprayed across the entire planet with Sunken's billboards, He informs her that her bond with the Chameleon Sector Key allows for teleportation - aside from the native invisibility ability. To this advantage, she teleports to many billboards across the island to de-activate the nerve agents. As this unfolds, the billboard near the others activates, as Arthur wonders if they should go and give Megan a hand, as to which Ryan and Joi suggests they probably should.
After she's able to disable the billboards, Megan refocuses her attention on Sunken, but the commandant gains the upper hand, moments before Arthur and the others join her just in time, as Megan reveals that thanks to Russell's knowledge about Sector Keys, she managed to stop the billboards from poisoning the planet. After the remaining rangers morph and do a roll call, they fight Sunken. Ryan, Arthur, Joi and Florian make quick work of the Roswells, while Megan focuses on Sunken, as General Sawyer begins work on re-installing the real billboards. After the five of them finish Sunken off with an All-Star Sector Blast, His Magnificence, amid angry reactions from Senators regarding a serious turning point in Star Battleforce seizing territory, furiously signs an executive order that enlarges Sunken. To this end, Arthur forms the Voyager Squad Megazord with Ryan, Joi, Megan and Florian, while an A-Drone also covers ground and begins to prepare mining planesium. After a short struggle, the rangers are able to destroy both Sunken and the A-Drone off for good with a Universal Aqua Thrust. As the events unfold, General Sawyer's convoy is able to finish setting up the real billboards. In the aftermath, as a reward for averting the billboard con and attempted occupation of Dorset, the rangers gain the Sail Sector Key, while Megan and her father properly reconcile. As an additional reward, General Sawyer rewards the five of them with a holiday on the planet, which excites Arthur, Megan, and Florian. While Ryan, who is less eager, joins them, Joi says she has business to attend to back on the Destiny, leaving the other four to enjoy a holiday on the planet with General Sawyer. In Xibalba, a Moonbilly whispers in Toxstatin's ear; and Toxstatin finds out that DImitri is on his way to a secret outpost hidden on his planet in the Scorpio Sector, and leaves to ambush him and Moose.
